    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I am getting my carbs rebuilt by one of our qualified site members and will need to vacuum sync the carbs once they are returned and bench synced.

I am about to buy a Morgan carb and colortune for myself, however prior to doing so for this one time use I thought it would be prudent to ask if anyone has a carbtune in the Connecticut area and would be interested in helping me vac sync my carbs.

In my opinion the colortune is a waste of money.
Better to set the idle mixture screws by ear. I'll have them close.
With a remote tank and at idle with a fan blowing on the headers tighten each idle mixture screw until the rpms start to drop and then back it out just until the motor smooths out.
The Vacuum sync tool is worth it!
 
Ill bite the bullet and buy a carbtune. Maybe I can tune my lawn mower after my bike...
Thanks for the input on the colortune I was almost sold on it. Ill order the carbtune and carb tool.
 
Hi,

I have a Colortune but I've never used it. (I got a deal on a NOS unit.) I always use the "highest idle" method. You'll find vacuum balancing procedures on my site and on Mr. bwringer's site. The Morgan Carbtune is definitely worth the money.

I will at least partly agree with the honorable Chef. :D

I have used the Colortune on a set of VM carbs and found that it worked GREAT.
Then I used it on two sets of BS carbs and was rather disappointed.
Others have found the same results, where there is no color change with the BS carbs.

As far as setting mixture by ear, ... works great, if you have a trained ear.
I have set idle mixtures 'by ear' many times, and it's not always easy.
I have found a newer method that I will be documenting and submitting to BassCliff's library some time soon.

By the way, the Carbtune (or the Colortune) are not "one time use" items.
You will need to check both of them any time you adjust the valves, which is scheduled for every 3000 miles.
