A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My 1150 clean up/rebuild

Just a tip. The bench mount wire wheel is the absolute best tool for resto work and when it comes time ( with a sisal wheel) for polishing. I've done 4 or 5 restos now and what I do is clean and bag the parts as I take them off. That way they are ready to paint or go back on when I need them.

Instead of throwing out plastic ziploc bags once used for food storage I wash them and pinch them for the man cave. A felt marker to label them and some milk crates to put things in and I don't misplace anything.

Organization (i'm sure you figured that out) is the key.

As GK says, that airbox would look good all smoothed out and buffed, why not keep it for awhile.

Cheers,
spyug

Hey thanks for the tips Spyug, I have been "pinching" yogart containers (big ones) for a while now but the zip locks is a great idea too, thanks. Organization is for sure the key. I spent some time cleaning up my garage and have give my boy and wife instructions to PLEASE not move anything:).

How come your petcock is set to prime (if it's marked the same as mine) does it not work in the ON position

.

Egg cartons are your friend.
You are right about the egg cartons, I have several at the ready.:)
Took my header and pipe to "You Blast It" today. Dropped it off and let them do it and picked it up after work. $50.00 well worth it!

Had to coach my boy's ball team tonight so tomorrow I will coat/paint the exhaust. If I can try and do at least one thing a weekday and more on the weekend I hope to have it ready to ride sometime in July.

Every step you make forward, is closer to the finish line.
Good to set a goal for yourself also. WTG!!!

"You can do it!"

If ya don't end up keeping I'd gladly send ya a few bucks for it :) I could find a use for it.

That "airbox" concoction is just crazy... They could have at least smoothed out those boogers, I mean welds... LOL

And what are these???

Those are bar end weights.....they cut down on vibration through the handlebars

Just wanted to let you guys know that I have not been slacking off. Have been getting some little thing done, such as dipping the carbs and cleaning them up...

Question...Anyone have any tips on painting plastic and rubber? This is my rear fender and it looks pretty shabby and I would like to paint it.
CentralSaanich-20120618-014591-1.jpg

Got my stage 3 dyno kit today from Z1 along with my new pods too!

If the plastic fender isnt gouged up too bad try hitting it with WD40, which will clean it and make it shiny. There's paint you can buy for plastic, as in patio furniture, but why risk having it flake on a part that's kind of a pain to get to? Your project is coming along great. All that meticulous work you're doing will really pay off.

another rebuild thread on here (cant remember which one) the guy used bumper and trim paint on his plastic rear fender, plus clock surrounds and a few other parts. looked really good

I cleaned the parts- let 'em dry and shot 'em with bumper, trim paint. No sanding, no primer. Easy peasy.

Which one did you use?
I love the results that Gatekeeper got.
So VHT is the good stuff?
