A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Looking good (including the photos)!

Those pistons are pure engine porn. Beautiful!

You thought about doing the starter switch mod (or what ever they call it) to save your starter clutch? Big engines w/high compression are really hard on the clutch. The engine can make a horrible clack noise when the starter clutch gets jammed during cranking.

Good luck

Got a link?
One of my 1100's is starting to do just that when it is cold. :(
It sounds TERRIBLE.
It has taken over 70,000 miles for it to occur.

Yes I am thinking I might have to to the mod, probably just a momentary switch to kill ignition while i get it cranking.

Now you have one-hundred CCs on me darn it.
My bike runs hot already. How are you going to keep it cool?

I have an Earls cooler on there. And also I live in the cold North, I have my cooler taped over most of the year, My gauge rarely sees over 100c in the summer.

Got it running tonight. LOTS of jump, it was rainy and wet/cold:( so I had to take it fairly easy, nothing over 1/2 throttle.
Had to jump it from the truck. Not enough juice in the battery to turn it over. Kicks back now and then, wired in an igniton kill to thelp with that. Went for a 1/2 hour ride and still not enough to flip it over:mad:. Had the starter apart, cleaned the comm and brushes, greased the bearings.
Anyone know of a HD battery brand/ model for these? The current battery isnt that old.

If you are using the stock advancer with your dyna ignition there is a slight mod that will help it start without kicking back

Maybe you need a Super squirrel... Paul Cashio takes a mitsuba 229 starter (look for counter sunk phillips screws in the middle of the starter holding the fields in. three of them.) and rebuilds it for more power. Even designed to handle 24v. Cell 1-504-458-5237 or at cashio cycles 1-504-393-2260. pcashio@cox.net

Yes, I have heard of them, I have read the thread. Do you know what he charges for one?
I am thinking of upgrading my starter and ground wires to 6 gauge first:cool:
Should be better when it is broken in more, but then the rings will seal better:eek:

I think it is about $100 if you have a core. If you don't, I think it is $150. I am sure I have decent core in my garage if you need it.

I emailed him, he wants $400 including shipping for the starter and idler gear shipped:eek:
What do you want for the core? and do you have an idler gear? Supposed to be an 18/55 tooth idler. I have no idea of what idler gear is in the bike.

Its the gear in between the starter and starter clutch.

Dude...I gotta change my sceeen size to 30% just to read and see your posts on one full screen without having to drag all over the place...just sayin
Dude, YOU need to get a bigger screen. :p

Maybe even with a newer computer.

I always set my pics at 1300, maybe I should go to 1000. Our camera is a 12mp or so seems a shame to shrink too much.
Take the pictures any resolution you want. Set up your PhotoBucket account to automatically re-size any pictures you upload to a smaller size. I use 800x600. That shows up reasonably well on-screen and minimizes the amount of space you use on your PhotoBucket account. Note that this leaves the pictures at the original resolution on your storage media at home, it only re-sizes the upload. :D

I have run the bike about 150k now, its LOTS of fun to ride, mondo torque. Whacked it wide open and the clutch seems to slip a little. Thats with 3 barnett, 3 ebc and an extra steel for more stack height. I replaced all the starter wires with HD wire and soldered ends. Helps with the starting, along with my new R&R.
Starts ok cold, but not so much when hot.

You need a lock up with that much torque &, before you ask, they work fine on a street bike. Ray.
