If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

This is my long term project. I'm trying to develop a modern version of the awesome original Katana. This is how I envision it. I need a Bandit 1200 swingarm and GSXR1100 forks. It'll definitely get a bigger engine, either an 1100 GSXR or a 1200 Bandit.
The flyscreen will be made out of aluminum, with two round projector beam bulbs frenched into it.

As a newbie to Katanas, I like it so far. I think your bodywork flows nicely. The original styling looks awkward to me and its a kind of either love it or hate it proposition. I have always hated it as it seems unfinished, especially the gap between the side panels and the back end. I think the later 'pop tops' have a more pleasing and finished look.

You are definitely on the right track and I'll be following with interest.

Be prepared to get bombed by the Katana purists however.

Cheers,
spyug

Outstanding man room by the way. I wish I had that kind of space and could keep it clean and tidy. I am envious.

It looks like an interesting build. I myself like the orginial style of the Kat-I guess I love it. Anyways, keep us posted and I'm suscribed to this thread.

looks good man, you need to fill the crack in the floor so it doesnt get worse, mine got wider and wider , they will keep spreading, and it isnt hard to fill it, just a suggestion:)

Cut the lower portion of the subframe out tonight to get ready for doing the monoshock. Raised the seat height to get it looking more aggresive, looks spot-on now ;D

Thanks everyone, Spyug, I figured I'd get a few lashings from the Kat-purists. The man-cave took a lot of work, it used to be a 2 car carport that I enclosed and wired. I love it!

Very cool project, kinda has a modern day Cafe Kat look. Subscribed.

Really interesting so far. Only thing that bothers me is the windshield. I think you should keep it close to stock, in other words, just lightly modify it.

Other than that - it has a lot of promise. Looking forward to following it! :)

Thanks man, I'm pretty keen on the windshield, however it'll be made out of aluminum with two round projector beam spots on the right side stacked on top of each other. It should look pretty trick. The cool thing is that it'll just unbolt if I want to go back to the look of the stock fairing.

Well, I started on the new subframe tonight. Just needs a couple of triangulated braces and two cross braces and it'll be set.

Looks very .

What are your steering geometry numbers (rake/trail)?

Thank you! I haven't figured them yet. I'd like around 29 degrees/ 4 inches, but have to wait until I have my swingarm and shock handy to work it all out.

I don't think this one will make it into Greasy kulture though. I'm watching this one closely.

You might want to steepen your rake numbers a bit for quicker steering by raising up the rear. Just make sure your chain/swingarm clearance is still good. I'm at about 26.5 degrees rake and 4 inches trail. It steers fast but still is stable in the corners.

Thanks for the info, I'll do that.

Whoops, reviewed my notes and that's 24.5 degrees, not 26.5 degrees. Are you planning on using a steering damper? Cheap insurance against tank slappers....

Yeah, I have a late model GSXR damper that'll get mounted to the headstock
