    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

the KZ deck clearances are identical as a GS. remember to bolt the cylinder down hand tight when measuring .

do you mean 035 total piston to head? or 035 over and above everything together?

0.035" is too tight if that is a total "static" piston to head clearance measurement.

However if everything added together like the .015deck/.020base/.043head/= .078total -.040sling out =.032 super safe and fine.

if I have understood your question wrong I'm sorry PM or call me if you like 563 940 3734. Tech math can get confusing.

I'm going to run my 0.020 base gasket for a very safe clearance, I know the squish is going to be large/loose, and compression is going to be cut by a couple points, but it will be safe. I'm almost broke from this build and I want it to last.

balancing act

balancing the major recriprocating parts reduces vibration and is worth the time and effort to get them within 1 gram of each other.

grams turn into pounds at 10K R.P.M. and that can wear out bearings , break cranks, distorts the cases . . etc... you see where this is going.

benefits to a completely stock engine are possible to feel ! if balance is out by 3g on 1 cylinder it may have been assembled and sent on down the production liine. Really, do you think they did this very fine performance detail while mass producing them? tolerance variances can stack up in the wrong direction of true balance. hence "good engines and bad ones of the exact same make and model"

88ci* 95 c.f.m. head @ 0.400" web 168 grind. redline at or before 9K 5 speed, 1-2-3 auto 680# package.

you tell me what am I forgetting . I'd like to go 8:90... 15/46 - 630 chain. 9X26 X 15 tire.

do you like what I'm doing?
 
not everyone does copper gaskets the same.

I do them like this;
clean the gaskets after disassembly .
use a propane torch and anneal the copper
I spray both sides with permatex copper sealer spray and let dry.

I assemble head - base with out any other "glue"

Looks great! Are you planning to o-ring the block/head? What grit finish do you have on the block and head surfaces?

Thanks for the info (I just saw this now. Not sure why i didn't get the email notice) btw, yes. I was initially thinking about running 0.035 total clearance - piston to head. Seems like it's very risky from what I'm hearing here...Also, I'm planning to run a copper head gasket for better heat dissipation but don't want it to leak. That seems like another area of debate...
