A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My crash story

You can always head out my way on one of those warmer winter days and ride dirt out here, Andy! No cages at all, no trees, no rocks... well one rock, but I know right where it is... hope you're feeling better every day!

As a new rider, I don't think that I can be reminded too often of the dangers that are waiting for me when I get out on the road. Thanks for sharing your story! I'm glad you survived and I hope your recovery continues to go well!

G'day Andy

Real sorry to hear that you have endured so much pain .Hope you have a speedy recovery and wish you all the best.Hope your back out there again soon if that is the decision you make.

Cheers M8

update

Greetings All,

Recovery sucks! But compared to the other option I'll take it:-D . Overall, my recovery has been good. My injuries are tending to heal slower than I prefer and have had 1 medium set back. One of the plates in my pelvis broke:cry: . The Dr. said this is typical but sooner than he would have liked to see it. He is reasonably sure all will be OK, I'll know next Friday(17th) wost case; another surgery to repair it again, best case; it will continue to heal on its own. I had to put a big slowdown on rehab due to this, But I can walk and limited lifting(under 20 lbs). The Dr. gave me the OK to exact some revenge on the local deer population(hit a deer w/ my truck last night) as long as I don't try to drag 'em. The walking on hills and in the woods will be good rehab for my legs. The injury to my wrist is great, has been released from the Dr's care. Will continue to heal for up to a year and strenghten for up to 2 years, But I can swing a hammer now and have had no real issues so far. The knee is coming along as well. I need to keep working on strengh and endurance. Four hrs. of standing or walking is about my limit right now, but getting a little better every day. I still hope to be able to get back to work in some capasity before Christmas. Well, thats about it for now. I post again next week after my Dr. visit and x-rays and let you all know whats up.

Thanks for all your support,

Andy

Glad You're Coming Along Well. I don't think Anyone Heals from a Major Injury or Surgury as Fast as THEY Think they Should. The Docs Went to School All those Years For Something (At least I Hope So! ) So Follow their Advice and Get Well ASAP.

Good to hear from you Andy. Keep your spirits up, and be patient with the rehab. All things considered, it sure sounds like good news.

Andy, you remain in my thoughts every time I ride. I'm sorry you had to suffer such a tradegy to become an inspiration.

Maybe by the time the snow melts you'll be ready to ride again. I hope so.

Thanks for the update. And Happy Holiday's to you.

Keep up with the rehab as best you can! Sounds like you're doing pretty good, though, considering.

My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Thank you

Thank you

Just read the thread starter  and update - thanks for the story & I'm glad you are still around to share it.

Glad to hear you're still on the mend, even if it seems slow. Sounds like you have a good mental attitude about it, which will help a lot!

Just thought I`d send best wishes from across the pond !. I`ve been lucky in that I have not had any serious spills, but your story set me thinking how easy it can happen. I have been extra careful since reading it to keep scanning the road ahead, behind and to the side and fix a riding plan in my head !. Hope you continue to progress and make a full recovery.

Andy,
Don't know how I missed the thread !!! So Sorry !!!
It's been about 5 months since your spill... How are you doing now?
...My thinking, is that when something like this happens, God's telling you to slow down your heart rate and rest...
I mean what else could you really do? ...You must go on, whatever you do... Andy, and, you will... You are strong.

So good of you to share your story with us... Must have been hard... I know first hand.
The people on this site are caring, sharing, helping individuals, with whom I am proud to be associated with. \\:D/

***Welcome aboard Andy... :-D
40 is young, when you're 56...
Ron told no lie...we heal slower...

I've had a few accidents, Nothing like yours...lucky EVERY time.
Flew threw the air w/my '75 900 Kaw @ 90+ mph, off the side of a highway....(in the 70's)
Slid out on wet/icy pavement & did a 360 degree slide...facing traffic...(in the 80's)
...Dropped it...blah, blah, blah...
Poop happens.

Hope you recovery is a restful time for you.
You won't "Get over it"... right away.
You THINK you will, but, you won't...So don't worry, It's Natural...nothing's wrong with you!
Always know that those who reside here are thinking of you and praying for you !!!

Hope to hear from you again soon...

ps. I haven't had the nerve to look at your bike wreck yet, as I know it will be a gut-wrenching experience for me; but, I have read this entire thread... Now, off to the pics....

Holy Cow !!!
YOU ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE, YOUNG MAN !!!!!!!!!!

GOD LIKES YOU...:-D

Andy,

God was truely lookin out for you man. I know it was hard to write that letter but thats the first step in dealing with such a tramatic part of your life. May God bless all of us that we will not have this very thing happen to us or that anyone on this forum will have to read about one of our brothers in this way.

God, keep us all safe.

I think I missed this thread as well! Don't remember any of it. Hope all is going much better now. In reading your story, it just re-enforces my decision to get out of biking. For a long time I've tried to imagine myself at 50 years old slamming into a car or sliding/rolling down a roadway. Honestly, I don't think I would bounce as good now as I did at 18 & 20. :-D

Bandit, anyone? 8-[

I dont think age & the fear of healing is a justfiable excuse. But if those are the cards you want to play.

Seriously Andy I hope you are feeling better & the job has gotten easier on your back. I relly hope the park thing works out for you. are you still looking at meeting up in July for the WNY meeting?

Pat
