A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My girlfriend's first ride (verrrryyyyy loooooong)

The other thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of people have issues with lack of control that inhibits their ability to do things. I do.

Back in the day when I started driving, I found I was never comfortable having a buddy drive ( mostly because they were all leadfoots and testosterone laced idiots to boot). and on the bike ride with my buddy I was powerless.

Now being able to ride myself, I would never be able to ride on the back unless there was absolutely no other alternative. I think this is also why I hate to fly and likely should take flying lessons.

Just wanted to pass that on as I'm sure some other folks feel the same.

cheers,
spyug.

I am the same way. I hate driving with my brother behind the wheel... but I think that is because he finds it necessary to tempt fate every time he goes out....

fortunately, Katie is fine with handing me the keys to her car (especially when I DONT want to drive:-D) and she trusts me to do my best to keep her safe.

I have never promised to keep her safe. I cant control the cars around me, and there are too many factors, both in the car and on the bike, to make a promise like that. I do promise to do my best to keep her safe.

Congrats!

Congrats!

To both of you! Sounds like you've increased our ranks. Well done! Don't forget to adjust the suspension and tire pressure! ;)

As an aside:

Not everyone is meant to be on a bike. IMHO, if they have no interest in riding, then I believe they shouldn't ride...at all. I've never pressured anyone to ride...ever. However, if someone expresses even a hint of interest, I'll do everything I can to share what I think I know about how to get started safely (MSF BRC is usually the first thing out of my face).

Dude you are one lucky guy! Good job! I cant get my girl anywhere near the bike :( I took my sister out once but thats not the same lol.

2 men on a purple bike.

You ever see the Show "That 70's Show" when Red gets a Honda and Kitty is against it until after her first ride. They pull into the drive after the first ride and she is sitting there with this stupid grin on her face saying lets go again Red. oooooo Rev it up again Red ooooo I like this. We can keep it.

Hey, Nate,
Good job, glad she liked the ride. My wife and I were discussing this and many other things dealing with piloting different vehicles/vessels the other night. I wasn't comfortable riding in a small Grumman two seater with her as pilot years ago, but she's always been comfortable in any vehicle, two or four wheels that I've taken her as a passenger in, as well as any boats (except my sailboat sailing on the beam....). She has especially enjoyed riding pillion through the mountains on my bike, gave her the same feeling of freedom she had flying an airplane.
Good job, Nate, keep her safe, and interested.:-D

So were you both wearing matching smurf suits and tassel toe booties? LMAO

Earl :-)

well, I got the bike registered/insured and I took Katie out for her first ride in traffic. I was afraid that she would get scared with the traffic being so close, but she did fine. I really think I found someone to ride with all the time!
