    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I bought this bike for 50 dollars not running, on its side in an old barn, and with absolutely 0 knowledge of these bikes. (heck this thing thing is 15 years older than me!) I really wanted to first get this bike road-worthy at the most minimal cost, and also make it into a "cafe style" bike without any major modifications and I feel I have accomplished that. I want to thank this entire forum, especially BassCliff for his incredible website, because without it, I would not have had the knowledge to get this thing going. Here are all the pics I took in the last 3 weeks, not a lot, but really just to show you where I started and where it is today.

The day I pulled it out of the barn...after a quick hose off, before that it was just piece of dust with a motorcycle in it...

And just after I stripped some of the stuff off..

And while the carbs were out for cleaning (mostly together)

And right to the finished piece!

And after her first bath just a few hours ago :)..

Sorry for the cruddy quality..these were all iPhone photos and often in low light. Let me know what you guys think! Its not even close to a show piece, but I put good hard work into it and its my first bike, and most importantly I am proud of the way it came out!

Looking good!!!

And I'm happy to say that fairing is working out really well on my 1100...

Nice work on the bike:)

Thanks guys! And Alan I'm glad it was put to good use, Your bike looks great!

good for you. You got it going, and put your personal stamp on it, without stomping the $h1t out of it. The fundamental goodness of the 1000G remains.

Nice ride. Enjoy it.

I have to agree, as a 1000G owner and lover, I want to pop a gasket when people take saws to them.
Nice job there, may you have many safe miles on her. :dancing:

Congrats on saving a 50 dollar bike and putting it into service. Regarding the showpiece comment- I've often said that an old bike looks better being ridden, then parked waiting for the rare perfect weather day in fear that it might get dirty......Ride safe and enjoy!
