DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i got a gs1100 that has no airbox,or filter, as well as no exhaust only a header to midpipe. when i drive it ...it goes...then stops momentarily ....then goes ....then stops momentarily...is this due to no filters and open exhaust? also its stock jetting.,.,..i just piked this up and it came with no filters nd exhaust ..thanks

You have the answers in your own post. No filter, no exhaust, and no jet kit. You need to run at least pods if not an airbox. You then need a proper exhaust, aftermarket or stock. Then you need to jet the bike to match intake and exhaust mods. A jet kit is the best way to go if you don't go stock at either end.

only a header to midpipe..

Gad ! Your neighbors gotta love you... If you just have to play with it before you make it right with the parts you need (I wouldnt recommend even running it until you get them) try restricting the carbs with some foam or some old socks.

I have examined this query very closely, and, after much deliberation, have concluded that the problems lie in the bike having :

A-no airbox
B-no filter
C-no exhaust
D-only a header to midpipe.

Perhaps if some attention were paid to these points we could try making it run smoother, as well as longer.

It actually runs?

It actually runs?

I have the same project going on. I couldn't get mine to even idle and I had stock the exhaust..your way ahead of me

times are rough

times are rough

times are rough with no money for parts ..i think i will park it until i get a exhaust and a airbox. other than that it runs well after its been like 15 mins of momentarirly surging.. i think the carbs finally get use to the mixture ...yah my neighboors must hate me...this thing is one loud bike ..sounds tuff though..thanks community

At least check the intakes between the carbs and head for leaks. Pick up a set of mains a couple sizes larger than what are in the carbs now, that should be less than $20, and shim the needles to richen it up. You don't want to burn your exhaust valves up.

Pods?

Pods?

thinking about going this route on mine,
where does one pick up these pods.
want to get rid off all the clutter on my bike.

thx,

mike

I would push some serious gas through that baby so not to melt it down. You are dangerously lean. No doubt in my mind.

About the pods do a search for K&N or go to the APE site.

This you bike's subtle way of telling you that you need to put that stuff back on it.

surging is a lean condition you can tune your bike to run fine without that useless equipment.

fatten it up 10%~15% overall- pilot needle and mains the surging will go away.
