If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

wasn't there a lock on that side originally?

Yeah, but it's BEHIND the seat lock... as you can see, he kinda chopped the whole ass end of the bike off to make that cafe tail/seat combo work.

Good job on the re-position! Amazing how a simple, silly little hook ads so much convenience! :)

Was there really? I'm gonna have to take a look at the back 12 inches of frame I have on the floor in my garage to see if I have that, I don't remember seeing it...

Got the clip-on bars installed, which allowed me to lower the front a full two inches! Handling is so much better now and looks great!
I also broke out the heat gun and burned off all those ugly stickers the PO put on...

looking closely at this picture, I'm wondering if I could put the clip-ons on the part of the forks that stick out above the trees for a slightly more comfortable riding position, but still with the lowered front. Ideas?

I think I got the exact same clip ons, and yeah i have mine on the top after sliding the forks through.

Any thought on color matching matching the wheels? Then, when you ride That up to Rausch Creek next weekend, bang it off some rocks, it'll look just like your Runner.

Hah!

Good thinkin'!

Revised: mounted the bars above the trees for a more comfortable riding position and lowered it another half inch for a 2.5" total drop

hahaha cliff I knew it was you...where's your build thread?

As part of my winter teardown I'll be painting the wheels to match the new color scheme; tank, tail and side panels will be satin or flat black, the frame will be powdercoated Dodge's RT Purple. The wheels will be done to match, with the silver parts done in flat black and the black parts done RT Purple. The engine will be blacked out with the fins polished like HD does and the clutch/stator covers will be polished to a shine. The exhaust system will also be powdercoated black.

Haha...supposed to be there. it may have broken off. The stock tab is flimsy.

When there is something worth taking pictures of, I'll get a build thread going. I won't be doing anything but the bars and seat until winter anyhow. I'm still going over threads and getting ideas, as im not 100% sure what directions I want to go.

Thanks for the inspiration though, It's a nice bike. :)

So today I started my winder build/rebuild. Starting with an engine re-seal plus piston rings (leaving the bottom end as is), frame is going out to get powder coated and the tank and tail will get the flat black treatment. Also ordering an entirely new wiring harness to fix the hack-job from the PO.

OKAY NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS:
First the scary one- I pulled off the right side engine cover (starter/generator cover) and first of all there was a lot of oil in there...not sure if there was supposed to be because it looks sealed from the crankcase. Also found these strips of metal inside the case...not sure what they are or where they go but the bike ran fine with them just hanging out in there...

any ideas?

Second is there a way to remove the whole rack of carbs from the head without having to sync them afterwards?

I dunno about the three rounded parts but the one in the center screws inside the stator cover to hold down the wires.

Edit: Just pull the carbs out of the boots as a single unit. No need to take them off individually.

Thanks! I wonder what those other three parts are for...
