Nicely done, where'd you get your headlight brackets.

Thanks I love it ... and the 153bhp she kicks out at the tyre!

The Fork tube clamps were from originally MPS but I made the head light bracket out of Ali plate.

hope this helps pal,

I picked up a set from Streetworks for $60,

This is more what I wanted, cheapest I've seen them though was $189 just for the brackets. I still want to use the 8" headlight and not have a problem hiding wires.

I kept considering those but couldn't seem to find the size I needed. I would ask the sellers for measurements without the rubbers and they all came up just a bit short of what I needed. Now I wish I had just gotten the biggest they had and gone with them. Mine should be in soon. About all I need now is a fender. The '88 axle on my bike now is about the only thing iffy and I need to have stops welded to the triple and some stock welded under the upper yoke to mount instruments.

your right they are a smidge short but very hard to tell, the biggest pain I've had is the clock mounting, Ali is not good due to clock weight an vibrations I'm going to rig up the "standard" bandit gear, including the bushes!

sweet bike gus !how about a list of mods. done to it ?

Ok here goes, I’ll try to remember the full sequence of mods (if you want any specific info that I miss please ask)

The first job was to sort out the wiring after various attempts by various people to cut this and replace that, It still wasn’t working! I had the whole bike re wired to my spec, the fuse box now resides under the seat.
Next came the rolling gear, I used a GSXR1100 front and rear end number of reasons for this choice I like the look of the lowered bike and that I could have some wider rubber, increased braking lower weight etc. point to note here when fitting the swinging arm the rear brake master cylinder needs re-positioning, I used a brembo one, I figured better to have 2002-5 brakes than ’81!
Koni rear shocks (for the colour) Full re-spray yellow over silver
Rear Mudguard was then cut down to clean the back end up, and Bandit Clocks / headlight for the front.
Cobra front pipes with one off link pipe and can.

Now for the power! ;O)

I went for a Full Dyna ignition, for the big spark. Pingle fuel tap with 38mm Mikuni RS flat slides and individual K+N filters with a push/pull throttle.
I originally used a GSXR1100 carb set but the bike was running rich at high RPM this would have meant playing on the dyno with various bits…. Costing money etc, so hence the Mikuni’s!
Work on the engine so far: Orient express valve springs, Kent G4 Race cams, Adjustable sprockets, Port and flowed head, 1170 Wiseco piston kit, APE heavy duty clutch springs,
All new gaskets / seals, etc throughout.

And I think that is about it …..
So a 1981 bike that puts out 153 bhp at the tyre not bad eh?
Im just wondering what I should do next any ideas? My only stipulation is I must be able to ride it on the road and through heavy London traffic ……….. so she must be well behaved … sometimes!!

,
Goodness man, what all have you done to it? I'd love to have that much power in my 1100.

nm, I didn't see the rest of the thread. Awesome bike man. I originally wanted to to with that look for mine, but since I have a late model sport bike, and I'm planning a big trip, I am gonna go ahead and keep the confort beast for now.

All tuning was done for me by Sean and the guys at Big CC www.bigccracing.com It made 125 bhp with the standard GSXR carbs but as I said before they were rich at high revs so the decision was made to go Mikuni RS WOW! these things are amazing!
Even the guys at BIGcc were impressed.

I've tried to upload some more photos but the files are to large I'll get some more shots and load m up.
Forgot to mention some of the smaller mods such as foot rests, indicators, casings, switch gear etc but these will show in the next photos ... this bike really has been a labour of love if it wasn't one thing it was another .. if you have a vision though you gota stick with it.

I've got RS34's on my 700. For a bolt on item they give more bang for the buck than just about anything you can do.

I hear ya! I would guess your 700 puts down some too. just getting used to the "noise" now though :O)

Gus, That is a seriously good looking machine. You should consider submitting it for bike of the month, it's that nice. Ray

Sweet bike man!!!I hope my bike will look that good someday.I've only had it since june so I havent done a lot to it so far.just some engine work and little cosmetic stuff. It to cold here to take pics of recent changes.
