Or even your top like for a tire.

I have cracking in my sidewall and sure enough the tire I got last year was mae in 33 09. Alas and alack.

Hahahaha

Jeep, I just stuck a pair of Pirelli Sport Demons on mine the other week and so far I'm lovin' 'em.

My first real good ride through the twisties is planned for this coming Thursday, but they already feel a hell of a lot better than the dual sports I had on there.

The Katana guys and GS500 guys here love them and I can see why...

+1 on sport demons, they increase bike confidence a ton. Stability and grip are excellent.

I have limited experience with the tires, but out of three brands I have used on my current bike, Metzler, Avon Roadrider AM26 and Shinko 230 TourMasters, I like the Shinko 230's the best.

Avon Roadrider is the only tire I've had recent experience with. Two bikes,
I have them on both.
I may just like them because they're leaps and bounds better than the stuff I had in the '70's.

Excellent food for thought gents.
Gents and Allie
Now Trevor have you dealt with the Canadian MC tire website before?
Its damned tempting not to haul the gas pig truck out for a trip to the tire store.
10 bucks just for going into town imagine that.

Yes, that's how I got them. I ordered two for the 1100 and a rear for the 750. Even give you another $15 off for ordering more than two. It was very easy. I had them to Victoria in one week. Free shipping over $100. I paid $360 for three tires.

Of the three brands I have had, I liked the Metzler Lasertecs the least. The first pair cracked on the sidewalls, the replacements cracked also. They did not handle as well as the other two brands. Avon AM26, the sidewalls on the rear tire cracked, they replaced both tires, I wore the rear tire out, but went With Shinkos next because the front tire was cupping. They handled well. Shinko 230 Tourmaster, the back tire might be worn out before winter. No cracking or odd wear, half the price of the Avons, will probably wear two back tires to one front, still cheaper than one set of the Avon tires. They are the most confidence inspiring tires I have ever had. All three sets were on the same wheels balanced with Dynabeads.

I had a set of those Metzlers back in 97 on my KZ750E. They were fine for the time, but not equal to current technology.

This is for your 85 550 right? The 16 inch fronts make tire choice rather limited unfortunately.Have had Lazertec's on my 750 for 3 seasons.Replacing them with a "set" of Shinko's. Doing a 230 rear and one of these in the front SR735
STREET / CRUISER TIRE
The SR735 utilizes a popular touring/cruiser tread pattern that can be mounted as a front or rear.

4 ply rated
Tubeless, DOT approved
S Speed Rating (115mph)
Hoping I'm not going to regret poppnig for a set of Avons:pray:

My 83 GS 550 ES with Pirelli Sport Demons. Those "Holey" tires are too flat;)

I personally have run out a couple sets of Bridgestone BT45's on my GS1000, and am very pleased with them. They have good handling characteristics , but the wear has not been the same[ only complaint] first set got almost 10k out of them 2nd set I have only got 5500 miles so far and are nearing replacement.
