A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

If they are about 1 1/2 inches in diameter, they are exhaust gaskets.

Not at the head, but the crossover pipe or where two pipes slip into the "Y".

Basket cases?

nope
and nope hahahahah.
I've never seen these before.. not that I've seen all that many 2 cylinder GSs. especially a 250.
now a clue. I found them when I pulled the carbs to dip and strip....

"....I found them when I pulled the carbs to dip and strip...."
flame arresters ,in case you failed to clean carbs properly and you get backfire thru carbs!

I forgot to re-install these parts. and I don't know what they do , let alone what the heck difference they would make either..
but I DO have a theory.
I'll attempt to find a picture somewhere and post it up later today.

Hmmm i do not think so considering where they came from but GOOD IDEAS

Ok these "mesh screens" were in each carb ..in the mouth of the carb in the FRONT. there are no ports or holes or anything there to cover up... Wth???
My guess is that they "soak up" vapors on a hot soak?? To eliminate a hard hot start????
At any rate. I didn't want wires right by the intake valve.. Accident waiting to happen ..especially if you look close at one of them..it is starting to come apart.

On a suzuki parts fiche they are #52 and called "net" but what does that mean?
They cant catch anything lol and i dont think there are ANY ports in that portion the ring would cover??$%&&

I still think they are flame arresters, but maybe they ionize the mixture, sorta like those gizmos folks use to stick in their carb throats to boost power back before fuel injection days. Leave them out and used them for straining chunks out of your turkey gravy in a few weeks.

Haaa ok i will do that.
The only way I'd put them back in would be if they created more power which this bike severely lacks haha

Holy! there is something there ! I expected something a little plainer but I'm happy to be corrected! ...I share the same OEM Suzuki shop manual with your bike as an "addendum" that covers the GSX 400. It doesn't show the "net" anywhere in the "blow up" of parts in either book but it is plain enough in the main manual as a "mesh ring".

I read the explanation of the TSCC system that is prominent in the manual but no mentionof that turbulator you have yet!

I really almost didn't find it on the fiche.. but read down the list of parts and saw NET haha.
I don't know what they do.. or DID.. but they don't do it anymore hahaha and unless someone tells me it will gain me some low end torque, they are staying OUT!!!! I was already looking on ebay for an airbox because the PO had nearly ruined it... and I was actually contemplating ..ahem..pods..
If I had to remove he carbs again I duno what might happen!!:nightmare:

Yeah they would disrupt laminar flow in the runners would they not.

They must have wanted turbulent flow?? but why?
or instead of optimizin the intake runner length, they used these to 'cheat' it out, somehow??
Actually, my brother in law just bought a GS 250 also.. it is running and I'll compare the two bikes.. altho who knows the condition of his ???
