If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Nameplate holes on V&H 4-into-1

Has anyone replaced the stock nameplate on one of these pipes? I had to remove the nameplate to strip the poor chrome job when it rusted. I decided to black out the pipe. If the chrome was half as durable as the rivets V&H uses, I wouldn't have had to repaint it. V&H support told me that it's aircraft rivets, compressed from both sides at the factory, that ship with the pipe.

Either way, I'm putting a new nameplate on to make up for the mess I made of the original one while trying to remove those rivets. I'd like to use a tiny allan cap to match the theme I've got going with the bike, but I don't think I'll find one small enough. I'm thinking screw/bolt and nut on the inside but I might run into problems with the baffle. Ideas?

My V&H pipe came with a glued on nameplate. It fell off or was stolen and I ordered a new one and I JB welded it on. A year or so ago and its on there good.

normal rivets worked on my V&H pipe... been on for a few years now and all is good.... just rivet it back on

One other question. When I took the original plate off of the exhaust, there was some sort of powder between the plate and the pipe. Any idea what that would have been? I'm not sure if it was an adhesive at some point or just a powder meant to keep moisture away, but if it served a purpose I'd like to replace it.

no idea... my pipe was blasted and painted... then a new plate riveted to the old holes.... i didn't put anything between it and the pipe.... no noticable effects of anything untoward has occurred ;)

I wonder how common this is. Mine fell off after a few hundred miles. I haven't looked into replacing it. I figure they don't want their pipe advertised. Too bad they are about the only choice anymore without spending twice as much as the bike is worth.

I found the replacements online for a few bucks but called V&H anyways. They offered to ship a few to me for no cost. Good deal!

did any of you guys have your chrome v&h sandblasted or just sanded and then painted black? I was considering the V&H but i want a black exhaust. How did your turn out, got any pictures? Thx

Well, I ended up with the wrong V&H nameplate. They're sending me a replacement but I'm paying for them this time around...hope they're at least the right ones!

I had my pipes chemically stripped down to the nickel, then sandblasted, then painted with VHT. Turned out pretty good, but I have yet to heat them up and see how they wear. I'll see if I can get a few pics up when the bike is back in my garage. Had to send it out for a few custom parts.
