    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I need to narrow the the 1100 Katana swingarm I got so it will fit in my GS400 frame. I like the method done here: (#3)

Wish I had answers for your questions on HOW to do it.

My question to you would be WHY to do it? Seems like an awful lot of work to fit the Katana arm in the 400. Hopefully you don't then expect the 400 to handle like a Katana.

be warned...it seems like 400's are a rarity...i know of only 10...keep it stock...fix it up!

I've seen a bunch of them. Plus, I don't really have to modify much to fit the swingarm, virtually everything I"m doing will be reversable. Also, the GS already handles better than a Katana, save for the awful tire choices available

Although, I think I got an idea of how to do it... Do you think a router will mill aluminum?
 
I would love to see how you converted the front wheel to disc...if you could do a write up that would be sweet as I would like to do it sometime...
 
My advice is to go to a pedal bike shop and ask them if they have a head tube reamer. A shop that deals with high quality road bikes is most likely to have one. Then show them what you have and what needs to be done. I'll bet the cutter itself on the tool that guy made is at least $70, if not $170.

The real issue is how are you going to cut the races for the swingarm bearing?

it looks like they're drilled straight all the way across. All I should have to do is press the bearings further into the swingarm. Obviously I"ll be replacing them, and I'll need to cut down that spacer tube in the middle too.

Head tube reamer you say?
