    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

nd or kok condensers. are they interchangeable?

The title pretty much sums up the question, you can read my "550 ran awesome yesterday, today, won't start. any ideas?" post if you want to see what my problem is.

Turns out the reason the condensers I ordered don't fit properly is because they are kok and not nd. Anyone know if this will result in catastrophe for my ill tempered ignition system?

$120 for a dyna system is looking pretty attractive...

Simply put: No. I happen to have a set of ND points and condensors new in the box, and as I am getting ready to toss in a Dyna S myself, I will have no use for them. Lemme know if you are interested.

Also, when swapping to a Dyna S, you will need to spend at least a LIL bit more, as if you use the stock coils, you'll need to put a 2ohm balast resistor in the system as well, or risk burning your coils/ignition out. Not too expensive, and the other alternative is to swap to Dyna 3 ohm coils, and skip the balast resistor (and from what i am told, get a better spark condition from it as well)
 
USe an old 70's mopar, ign resistor, one siide 1.8 ohms. Just a few $ at autozone or PepBoys
 
Well for that matter, you can pull an N1Elkyfan and use GM dual output coils on the bike as well. Lil bit of a pain to figure out where to mount them where they dont stick out like a sore thumb, but he did it, and they worked, and i think he paid something like 20-30 bucks for TWO new coils??
 
Don't mean to sound contrary but the Dyna S is designed for use with the stock coils - anything from 3 to 5 ohms resistance is fine. Early GS coils for points ignition have approx. 4.5 ohms of resistance so you are good to go. A ballist resistor is recommended to increase resistance when using late model 2 ohm coils with a Dyna S.
