All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Need a lil help & question.

I'm in the process of restoring my 82 GS650G. Damn near everything I can find but a seat. Would anyone know where I can find one? Mine has a lot of rust but only on the LT side of the pan. I've looked for a while but can't find one for the G model.
Also, does anyone have a pic of a G model w/ a cafe seat or custom seat on it? I do plan on doing a few mods to the bike but nothing too major right now. Any help is appreciated.

I would try that but the rust is so bad part of the pan is missing. I have tried eBay. I found one but was outbid. The foam and cover are no problem to find/make.

Darkbane has an early-ish 650G done in "cafe" garb and it looks very nice. However, you may find, were you to want to keep it stock, that an 850/1100G MAY fit. They SHOULD use the same lock and mounting set up, the only question i would think, would be length.

If its solid enough, even though rusty, you could cast a mould from your pan in fibreglass. I have seen a few people do this, with great results.

Here's what I got but I am not sure it's what you need? I think this is for a 80's 550L?

AF Bill - -

I am finishing a Cafe conversion of my 81 GS650G. I have a seat that you can have if you pay the shipping. I don't know for a fact that it will fit your 1982, but it's yours if you want it. Let me know your zip code and I can get you a figure.

Newbee- Thanks for the pics but I don't have a step up seat and the lock is different. Sorry.

Kelly-- I'll take it! The research I've done says that the 81-83 GS650G's all have the same seat. My zip is 21234.
