A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I've been searching the Net for a carb rebuild kit for my Mikini VM26SS , off a 1979 GS 850 . Can anyone point me to a parts website that has this ? I can only find kits for 1979 GS750 . Is this the same stock carb on both bikes ? I also want to know what popular kit previously mentioned so as NOT to purchase them . Thanks!

Here are the oring kits..1 kit does the entire rack. You WILL NOT need anything as far as hard parts go unless you get crazy physical or loose something. Replace the intake orings while the carbs are off too. see page 3 for those.

And heres your rebuild tutorial on the right side margin here.... Order new bowl gaskets and you should be good to go. Be sure the little spring loaded tips on the float needles are free and spring back when you push them too.

Thanks , so where would you order bowl gaskets from and what about the carb model being not very available

The gaskets can com from the dealer, on eby, or whatever is the cheapest source for you. The carbs themselves arent available but things like float seats, float needles, floats and such can still be sourced.

NOTE that when we say gently seated on the pilot screws ( the bottom ones ) we mean that you slowly and easily turn them in till they stop. Dont force them after that point as you dont want to break a tip off inside the passage.

Thanks all for the info ! What type of carb should I quote when ordering parts vm26ss or just VM26 ????

VM 26 is all you need to know. The 750s, 1000, and others before 80 used the same stuff.

Right at this moment, BSharpish's thread on avoiding carb kits is right below this post. Read that
