    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Need new carbs for 82 1100GK but dunno what to buy.

I looked for new carbs for my 1100 but didn't see anything. A couple of years ago I remember looking and finding a few things but thought I didn't need to buy then because stuff will still be around. Seems like parts have become a crunch through the last couple of years tho. I'm looking for brand new carbs that would fit my 1100GK and don't know about x-referencing newer bikes. I've heard the newer gsxr 750?? maybe? carbs will fit? Anyone know what I'm trying to do here and can offer advice please let me know.
 
What's wrong with the current carbs? Would be a whole lot easier to just rebuild them, or find an different set of 1100 carbs and go from there.
 
If the 1100 is the 34mm mikuni there is a set on ebay even as we speak, with the reserve not met at $107.50 (which is more than I want to pay for what would be a parts set for me).
 
Sorry it took so long to get back. They leak out of the filters tho on to the top of the case. It fills my garage full of gas. I've looked at rebuild kits and they seem pretty expensive for the float kit and the other parts. I found a set of carbs NIB a year or so ago for 200 bux and I'm kicking myself for not buying them now.

I recently replaced the petcock with a newly rebuilt working one and it leaks until the carbs empty out it seems now. I'm about to go totally run it out with the gas off and push it into the garage to see if that works but that would be a huge pain to do everytime I ride.
 
The spacing is what's important. Spacing between the carbs. 77mm-93mm-73mm. Mikuni 34mm will be the best overall riding experience. CV gives you the smoothest ride. CV = Constant Velocity or vacuum pull on the slide. You can find these from: 1988 GSX600, any year GSXR-750, any year GSXR-1100, GS1000-GS1150, or any year Kaw KZ1000-KZ1100. If you find a set with the 77-93-77 spacing and it's not mentioned here, it should work. There's also the VM Smoothbore sets which are the early model of racing carbs or the RS Flatslides which are the recent racing carbs. I know there's a lot of debate about those but if you're working on a litre bike (1000cc or more) it'll be ok. Just have to work out the jetting. The bigger bore, 36-38 make it a bit more difficult to smooth out the street riding capability but it sure will "**** and git". I've noticed not many guys mention that the original set of Mikuni BS carbs will wear the top end of the emulsion tubes oval shaped and make it damn near impossible to tune the pilot circuit when that happens. Noone on this planet makes emulsion tubes or "needle jets" for the BS series so that's one effect you just have to live with. Doesn't seem to affect most guys but I sure had a helluva time overcoming it. Good luck.

Do all of the carbs leak or just one or two? If it's the latter you may be able to find someone on this site who has a spare needle/seat laying around. You should be able to use either the BS 34 or 32 assembly.
 
#2 is the only one I can actually see signs of it leaking down the bodies onto the top of the case. The other 3 are clean.

No need to replace the carbs. Just clean and/or replace the needle/seat of the offending carb. Very common problem, not a big deal...
