A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A few days ago I noticed fuel leaking from my carbs. I've read through all of the threads on this website (including most of the info on BikeCliff's website) to try and figure out what the problem is but I'm just having no luck.

Symptoms:
- Fuel flows from middle two carbs when bike is running
- I can't see exactly where the fuel is leaking from but it is NOT from the overflow nozzles
- Bike runs great
- If I take the tank off and run the bike on the gas left in the tube - no leaking

I've pulled the carbs off and inspected the bowl seals, needle, float bowls (needles and bowls do not seem to be sticking and no holes or wear detected). I've been careful to put everything back together correctly. Petcock seems to be working fine (I guess - doesn't flow fuel while 'on' or in 'res' but does on 'prm'). I've checked the float bowl height, 22.4mm.

How often do the fuel transfer tubes (between carbs) go bad? I just can't think of anything else it could be.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

P.S. Carbs are Mikuni BS 34SS

Had the same problem with one carb. It turned out to be the seal in the choke in carb #3. Check to see if there is any fuel leaching out of the choke in the carbs. It is not a lot but a little difficult to spot at first as it is not obvious.

YES! I was right.

You've just discovered why all the tutorials say buy a set of O rings for your carbs

The material just doesn't hold up for 30 years

Well done on finding the problem.

They don't make 'em like they used to! Take 'em back to Suzuki and get replacements under warranty. :)
