If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does anyone know were i can find a wiring diagram for a 78 suzuki gs1000? I checked google and basscliffs website and all i can find in one for a 80 gs1000.

I have it. I'll try to scan and post it up late this evening.

is there a particular issue you are having for which you need it?

Download the service manual.I know it says 79 on it put as far as I can see it's 78 though 80.

Greg, I just glanced at it. the wiring diagram listed appears to be the same as the '78 GS1000E. if He has a GS1000C, the turn signal portion of the diagram on Pg 12-12? would be different.

to be honest it's for my buddy, he's working on my bike for me. I'm still very new to working on bikes and since i rely on mine to get me to work i figued it would be worth the couple of bucks to have someone fix it that knew what they were doing. It starting acting weird the other day. I pulled up to a stop sign and the moment i came to a compleat stop it died and when i tried to start it my brand new battery was dead. My buddy then picked up the bike and said that the p/o messed with the wiring and he needs the diagram do check it.

<snip> and said that the p/o messed with the wiring and he needs the diagram do check it.
It sounds like it's in good hands!

does your bike have mag wheels and dual disc brakes up front, or spokes and a single disc?
(Gs1000E or GS1000C)

Have not even looked at it if truth be told.Does the"C" not have self canceling sigs?If the answer is no I'm happy to have the C.It'll look like a E(mostly) but without that PITA system.:-\\\

The C doesn't have self cancel. are you a bit happier now? ;)

mag and dual disc. What does that mean?

The GS1000E(C) model came with mag wheels (aluminum) and dual disc brakes up front. it also came with self cancel turn signals and a higher stepped seat. the GS1000(C) came with wire spoke wheels and had a single disc brake up front. two variants of the same model.

(C) is the notation for the 1978 model year.

Figured I'd give ya guys an update. Jim found a bunch of wires that were under the airbox that wasn't hooked in anything. He says he dosen't know how it ran this long with the wiring this screwy. I suppose the bike is going to be in the shop for a few days cause he's got to redo a lot of the wiring. He said at this point he's just going to focus on getting it to take a charge from the stator. I'm trying to talk him into checking out this site cause you guys know a lot about these old bikes. On the bright side this explains about every problem I've had with her.

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! Thank you all for you're help. We've got the diagram and now I just need to show some self restraint and not bug him every 2 seconds and let him do his thing. It's going to be a LONG day at work trying to not think about my bike. I can't wait to get Suzi back in good running condition. It's been a month since I've been able to go for a nice long cruse and believe me I've been jonesing for one for some time.
