New carb to airbox "hose" incorrect size

Hi everyone, new guy here. Picked up a 1981 GS750L a few months ago as a project to tinker around with, and trying to do the 'right thing' by keeping my stock airbox while getting it running again.

Pulled the carbs, been working on rebuilding/freshening them, disassembled and cleaned up the airbox bits and got a new stock style filter.

The "hoses" as they call them that go from the carbs to the box, they look like little rubber velocity stacks, are basically petrified at this point and feel like hard plastic instead of rubber. So I ordered 4 new ones from Partzilla, 13881-49021. They've been sitting in a box but recently I saw a FB post where someone was having issues with his new boots/hoses not fitting tightly on the carbs, so I pulled one out of its bag and lo and behold it's not even close. The diameter of my BS32SS carb is maybe 50mm? And these were more like 55 or more in diameter. No way they're going to fit.

Anyone run into this? Got a better part number that might fit this application? Trying to avoid going to pods at this point, but lack of availability of fitting parts may force my hand.

Hmm. That is the part number shown on other sites as well. You could try searching by the original number 13881-49200, before it was superseded. I don’t know if that will get you any better results.

A buddy of mine was at a u-pull-it junkyard today and found a bike there with what appears to be a complete carb set & airbox. Going to head up there tomorrow and check it out, maybe I can find some used ones in better shape than mine. It looks like it has the same TSCC motor as mine, so I might get lucky.

I have some of those same boots, and they are, indeed, 55mm. I've ran into problems like this before, but for a different application; Suzuki PN's were wrong for boots, or in my case, the clamps for the boots.

Well, I checked out the junkyard bike today. 1981 GS1100, and the boots are the same diameter as the oversized ones I sent back.

Part mark interchange shows them to be the same, but it's a BS32 vs a BS34 between these two bikes so that ain't right.

If I use the appropriate clamps, I can snug the larger boot on my smaller carb - but there's no way it's fitting in my airbox.

Unfortunately this poor thing had a nice Vance & Hines exhaust before someone slammed it down on the right side, busting the engine case at the ignition and again at the valvetrain.

On another note, I now own a set of BS34 carbs and an airbox with boots... so...
