    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Another option, there are often used SH775 RRs on ebay, I got mine for $25 plus shipping. People must crash a lot of Polaris ATVs....

Be careful about buying used SH775s on ebay. Some are shunt, some are series.

Because they are not genuine, according to several posts in the SH775 threads. Those who claim to be in the know stated that some have been discovered to be shunt, and the best way to guarantee that they are genuine are to purchase them from a Polaris dealer with the correct part number, also listed in the SH775 threads.
 
Mine had the correct factory markings and Polaris part number. It was too dirty to have been restamped or tampered with...

This is the proper way to purchase a used one. You have to check the Polaris part number, not just the Shindengen part number.

OR people are re-selling defective ones. No way to tell until you hook it up and see if your stator acts as VERY expensive fuse.

There's been a lot of research done by people here and on other forums, and a genuine NEW Polaris RR is proving to be an reliable, affordable way to improve on the 30 year old technology that most of us have or had. But, as it's been said - Please, feel free to buy a Chinese knock-off, and/or a used RR that's supposed to be good. Hook it up to YOUR bike and go.

I just don't think you'll find much support or agreement here that either of those methods is cost-effective in the long run.
 
Personally, I weigh the cost savings between a used R/R of questionable performance vs. a brand new R/R against the price of yet another new stator. It's your money and your bike, but I know which way I would go.
 
There are two used SH-775 regulators on eBay right now for $40 shipped. Search for "rzr 800 regulator". I'd be picking one up myself as a backup for my 750 PO installed el-cheapo R/R, but of course my motorcycle parts funds have already been tapped out this month.
 
I'm with koolaid on this one. $40 for an ebay type or $61 for the known good Polaris part... It's worth $20 to be sure.

That's why I ended up getting the compufire series from Amazon, shipped free in a couple days (it is supposed to be here today).

I have been watching a little less attentively but I don't remember this topic ever coming up.

Do you have any more specifics. It really seems strange for anyone to counterfeit a cheap $75 part. Who is it that claims a Shindengen part number labeled SH-775 is in fact a SHUNT R/R?

To be honest, I don't recall which thread or even when it was posted. Since I have no interest in a series R/R, my GS being gone, I just logged it and moved on.
Don't be surprised by what the Chinese are willing to counterfeit; I worked in the consumer electronics industry for a decade and it was amazing what they would turn out.

Yes there are plenty of knock offs for things that have a large established markets. There are plenty of these SHUNT R/R's (not sure but probably from China) around that in volume look to cost about $5 a piece.

Doesn't make a lot of sense unless I put my tin hat on and start envisioning conspiracies...:o
 
Lots of really cheap Chinese shunt R/Rs, even those with the exact same connectors. Why not slap yet another model number on the exact same R/R and claim it is a Shindengen 775?
IDK, never saw one, never in the market. Just reporting what I remember reading.
 
I think the situation regarding the 'fake' SH-775 is that they are not SH-775 at all, but MOSFET units being sold as REPLACEMENT for applications (Polaris) that use the SH-775 and listed as 4012941 compatible.
Of course they are form/fit but as we know completely different animal.
Those I have seen on E-Bay are listed as described above - you just have to read the description accurately.
I just looked through 2500 Ebay listings and could find nothing that presented itself as a fake SH775 - New after-market (Shunt) replacements were 'proudly' openly declared as MOSFET.
Incidentally I did find 3 used OEM SH775 at $40 and one at $50.

Thanks Gorminrider, are the wires decent or really thin and flimsy?
 
@pchitti, wire sizes are fine. Red wire is larger gauge too.Came with the plug ,so I just put my own ends on to suit connection to stator ,ground and Battery +
I bought this one as a good bet...and only has 5 wires for simplicity (3 for stator)

works fine just installed and fits under the side cover too, but, weather is Too crummy for a long ride, and I will be leery of it until it has had one or two workouts.

added: It's replacing the one off I borrowed off a Honda GL500 "Silverwing" that worked very well, but that bike needs it back. The GL's was too big too fit under the GSX400E's sidecover anyways- I had it bolted to the chainguard....
