    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

new clutch for my 84 gs 1150 es

been riding the 1150 for about 3 months with a clutch that only slips on hard acceleration. finally bought new
dealer clutch plates, stock springs and a gasket. cost 149 dollars. it took more time to remove the old gasket than it took to replace the clutch:). total time 1 1/2 hrs. sure is nice to work on a bike that is a snap to work on.
man does she scream now. 100 % stock .did a 2 nd gear roll on powered past 9,000 rpm shifted to 3 rd. hit 100 mph right now . very happy. might even take her to the drag strip now.:D

this bike has been pampered all its life. only has 12,000 miles on it. i looked at the clutch basket real good. no slop or cracks. the hub springs are tight no slop.

The low miles and pampering is a great thing to have but now youre going to beat on it at the drag strip like an ugly stepchild. If you ride it there I would bring a plan B to get it home. ;)
 
I wouldn't worry about the basket with a street tire. I've got literally hundreds of passes on a lightly modified 1150. and the only problem I've had is wallowing out the center of the inner hub.
(psst, don't tell anybody but when you manage a drag strip, the temptation to make a pass every now and again is over powering)
