A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

New Coils and wires on the way

New ACCEL 140403K Black Ignition Coil Kit on the way. Is there anything out of the ordinary that I should do? Or should I just be able to hook these up and roll? I am aware that I need to play with the mounting a bit...

I'd check the primary resistance of these accel coils and compare to the suzuki ones- the stock ignitor might have have a minimum ohm value, otherwise it will be working harder.

Sorry, forgot I posted this, until the box came in the mail. They are "supposed to be the same core resistance as stock, 3.0 Ohms.

I will of course confirm that before installing. Hope they are ok, should make a world of difference...

Are they that difficult to install? A ignition relay mod is also recommended.

I have the coil relay already. And yes, I'm finding it difficult to get them where the stock coils are. Very little room to play with, and it will drive me insane knowing they are "hamburgered" in there. The thought came to me when I saw the 3ft wires that came with the kit...

I have Accel coils in my GS1100ED. They are tight and a bit of a challenge but probably fit better than the Dyna Coils.

Yeah, I figured a decent temporary way to mount them. Will need to fab up some small brackets to get them mounted properly. One side mounted on the stock tab, and the othe side (ugh, hate to say it) hose clamped to the frame. It will be a little janky but tight... Now to tackle the wires. Kit came with 4, 3ft suppression wires. Will cutting them down to a sane size lower the resistance of these graphite core wires?

Did you get this kit mounted? I am interested in doing the same thing with my GS850. What were your results?
