A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

so i have a new drag specialties headlight for my 1980 gsx750. i got rid of the original cluster and headlight. but now i have no clue how to make this light work...

i have never actually had a headlight on this bike since its been running so idk if the bike needs to just be "on" or running for the head light to work. the indicators and brake light work in the on position.

the new light has a green (ground?) white yellow and blue wire. my manual says the original head light had a black/white yellow and white wire going to it. none of the combinations ive tried work. the light is ok because i put it to a battery and its shines.

what do?

What to do?

First of all, you can't do any wire color translation without knowing FUNCTION.

How are the wires arranged at the back of the bulb?

Hold the light in front of you so that it will shine away from you. You will see three terminals.
There is a vertical one on the left, a horizontal one at the top and another vertical one on the right.
The black/white wire on the bike is ground, it will go to the LEFT terminal.
The white wire is the low beam, it will go to the TOP terminal.
The yellow wire is the high beam, it will go to the RIGHT terminal.

Connect whatever green, white yellow, blue wire you need to make that happen.

It's dark inside the insulation, but electrons are blind, so they can't really tell what color the wire is, anyway. :p
