    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hallo guys,
My nameis Chris and i come from Athens - Greece. I recently decided to rebuild my oncle's bike a GSX 750E 1981. It is really a very nice bike and i a looking forward to put my own identity on it. I made a lot of searching through the net over the last months, collected service manuals and pics with ideas. The only thing that i done so far is to make the bike run - with new carbs from ebay and i also bought a fuel tank from the 1100 model which is a bit larger and nicer from the 750 one.
Now i am looking forward to take everything out of the bike except the engine and build the bike from the beginning with some mods.
Because of the fact that i am quite young for this model (my age 29y) i need some help from the olders.
My first concern is how can a place different wheels in terms of dimensions. the wheels seem a bit small. Can you suggest a fork and rear swingarm which will fit and allow 17in wheels? I saw some guys who did that put i dont know if the bike needs any extreme mod.
Well that is my first concern. I am looking forward to see what your opinions are and get to know you better.

Welcome to the forum Chris.

I don't know that it's worth it to go to 17 inch wheels. I have an 81 GS750L with a 16 inch rear and a 1984 Honda 700 Sabre with a 17 and I really don't see much difference in the rear tires. If your trying to go to a wider tire there is information about swingarm mods here on the board.

Going to a 17 rear would require longer shocks as well as the swing arm issue.

If it helps, my 1982 GSX750E runs an 18 inch rim on the rear mounting a 120/90 tire and a 19 inch rim on the front running a 100/90 tire.

These are the original wheels and tire sizes as delivered from the factory, so unless there was some major frame change from 1981 to 1982 they may well still be available and fit right in.

Thank you for your replies. I was thinking of fitting a fork from a gsxr 1988 and find also a swingarm - perhaphs an alloy one from the gsx1100 model-I am not quite sure yet, i should search a bit further. Many people make lots of different combinations regarding suspension. I have seen mods from zrx, sv etc.
