A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and post some pics of my build in progress any input would be appreciated this is my first ever bike build

I picked this 850 up as a freebie from one of my employees (had earlier pics but some genius (ME) was a little to excited during tear down and destroyed the digital cam by stepping on it So the cell phone will have to do until I can steal the wife's

Before the freak out these bars are just for mock up probably wont stay on bike...This baby has seen better days but I jumped the starter and she fired right up (that flat stock laying across the bike is just something from a different project)

right now I am trying to decide on ride height then I will mock up the rigid rear... more photos to come

Let me know what you guys think like I said any input would be appreciated ...

P.S. THIS IS A GREAT FORUM!!! YOU GUYS ARE REAL CLASS ACTS!!!

Seeing all these chopper threads makes me want to get my sawzall and go to work on my 1000G...

Duse that looking good. Couple of other guys have 850Gs theyre chopping as well so info should be a plenty. Looks like a good start.

the whole reason I started this build was all the great posts on here about the 850s.... true inspiration!!

Great start man!!! Looks like mine a few months ago :) Im excited to see the ideas you comeup with. I personally like the rigid shafty look and if you need pointers on how i did mine, just drop a line.

Gotta ditch the big ass speedo!! :) Im actually using a SCHWIN Bicycle speedo. And yes it works great!!

You got a ways to go but i think you'll be surprised on how quick it can come together.

My theory was every night (or weekend) hit the garage and do something, anything on the bike. Dont lose Momentum, Thats when you start to lose interest and the project becomes a bust :(

Keep the photos rollin!!

p.s. i figured my ride height by making the bottom of the frame and the shaft housing exactly parallel. That set me about 7 inchs after the 4 into 2 exhaust was installed. And i havnt hit a curb on the underside yet. :)

Thanks man!! I totally agree on the speedo and as far as working on it every night I have the luxury of being able to keep and build this project at work so i see it all day and dedicate a few hours turning wrenches on her...
