    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

No fuel to cylinders. None. Zip. Nada. Dry plugs.

Well I took the carbs apart again, completely, and sprayed carb cleaner through every passageway. There was indeed some slight blockage but it's all cleared up now. I didn't find anything completely blocked, so I still think there's a problem elsewhere.

Put it all back together, but it still won't fire unless i pour gas in through the spark plug hole manually. I do appear to be getting fuel into the cylinder, but it isn't burning it. I do have spark.

The plug wires are on the correct plugs per the labels on the wires. I changed the points out and there was no difference so i gave up for the night.

Maybe the timing chain is broken?

Got it running. It took about 6 cycles of starter fluid. I think the valves were dirty or something, but it starts and runs on its own now. Thanks guys.

So this had nothing to do with your carbs? 6 cycles of Starter fluid?
 
im having the same problem with my gs550l. what exactly did you do to geet it running

I see that you have the problem resolved (well, at least the bike is running), but still feel the need to insert a comment or three.

Passages don't have to be "completely blocked" to cause problems.

Do you really trust the previous owner(s)? :eek:

You really expect that, after 30-some years, those wires are still correct?

Unless something has been changed, the left coil will fire plugs 1 and 4, the right coil will fire plugs 2 and 3.

If the timing chain were broken, we would not have seen this in the first post:

And that would have been easily confirmed when you adjusted your valves. :o

You did adjust the valves, didn't you? :-\\\
