A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

No gas in float bowls

Russel - Maryland, Tom - I haven't had a chance to see if the gas flow situation has changed. Hopefully I can get a chance to check it out tomorrow night. I've been meaning to get out there and tap on the carbs, maybe I'll do that on my way out to work tomorrow. Thanks.

I'm pretty frustrated. Today I went out and tried to figure stuff out, draining carbs, watching gas overflow sometimes, but not others. Very frustrating. carbs 1, 2, and 3 drain reliably, and flow freely on PRI. Carb 4 wasn't flowing at first, then started (rapping on the carbs and rocking the bike may have worked, maybe not.) Then I closed it, and the breather tube on that carb started overflowing. I went around to carb 1, opened it up, gas flows, closed it up and the overflow on that side started. Turned the petcock to on to stop the gas, then when I switched back to pri nothing from the overflow, or back on the other side form carb 4 or the overflow on that side. Doesn't seem to follow a pattern to me that makes sense. I'm thinking I'm going to have to find a shop that cleans carbs. One not to far from me said they'd do it for around 200, and they soak them in a solvent with some kind of sonic vibration. I am feeling like it is worth it to be riding, and a "stage 1 service" for 100$ for general type checkover. I would love to have some thoughts from you guys on this. Thanks.

Well, you tried , but the carbs have to come off and be thoroughly cleaned- the float needles are sticking and most likely the idle passages will be gunked up too. This is the only way to restore reliability and safety. Do what makes you feel comfortable to avoid further frustration. Good luck!
