A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

No oil pressure after overhaul

nope, you've got to split the cases which means the engine comes out, remember to logically diagnose the problem start with the simple and cheap. You did remove the chrome plug on the main oil gallery behind the cylinder ( right side) to test for oil pressure. This engine only calls for 3 psi @ 3000 rpm warm. So leave the o-ring for last, good luck.

The oil is lifted from the sump via the pickup through the oil pump directly to the filter. So if you need to check oil flow, remove the oil filter and kick the motor over as SHARPY said to make sure oil flow is at the filter. If you get oil there then everything should be ok.
I'd be a bit concerned about the rest of the motor being dry though. Personally I'd remove the valve cover, saturate the valve buckets, camshafts and anything else I can with oil. Remove spark plugs and give each cylinder a good dose of oil, etc. so the engine doesn't start up dry. We don't want 10,000 miles wear on the motor before we get it on the road for the first road test do we.

I'm with Suzuki Don, the oil filter is a good place to start. The system does go from the sump via the pump to the filter and then up to the pressure sending unit from there to the engine. Remove the cam cover and oil the cams also pull the plug and put a little oil in the cylinders. No kick starter so try spinning the engine for a few seconds with the electric starter. Should get oil flow real quick.

This thread is why some of us get bikes that look ok on the outside, but when you go to work on them it's "WTF?"
