A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

No vacuum at carbs..

Laz

Forum Newbie
Sorry for creating a new topic, tried googling and searching the forums.

1979 GS550 with VM carbs. I cleaned the carb, did pods with stock jetting and AIR correction jets.

It's idling crazy high. I think the carb is way out of sync. I don't know where the throttle stop should be tuned too eathier. Does anybody know how many turns the pilot air should be turned out? I did two. Additionally I hooked my carbtune to the can, and I'm getting zero vacuum. What can be causing that?

This is how I have it hooked it up.. I'm almost wondering if I'm when doing it right lol

Do you have the sync lines attached to the float bowls? If so, that's your problem...

No wonder you don't have vacuum

See that socket/Allen head bolt between the carbs and the head?
Unscrew that and screw in the 5 mm adapter from the Carbtune.
Attached the #1 hose, with restrictor, to the adapter.
Repeat across 2, 3&4

What did you set the pilot fuel screws to?
2 turns on the pilot air screws is about right

You cannot sync the carbs with the fuel tank in place
