Thanks again for the compliments, boys. Didn't mean to highjack the thread with my bike.

Here's a few pictures I snapped on the way out the door this morning. (My garage is a mess )

Where's your ignition?!?

Erm, uh, yeah, about that ignition. See, the thing is, my bike came to me with an ignition that could be turned with a screw driver. So for the past year, whilest working on all other parts of the bike, I've just been hardwiring the bike when I go for rides. I took the male plug (you can see the green female dangling in the photo) and simply soldered together the wires. So to turn the bike on, I just plug my "key" in, and away I go. Its half-assed, but it follows the bikes theme. One of these days, I'll get a keyed ignition, and relocate it by the battery. One of these days....:-D

Lee,

Sweet bike! I have been looking for a direction to go with my 1100E and this might be the push I needed to get rolling. That little gauge looks just about perfect up there, I need to do some shopping now for sure.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark. I think this gauge would really be well suited for the 1100E especially. The black case and blue background are nice.

hehehe sounds like my 750B when i bought it...gauges were gone of it, so the guy had the ignition mounted to one of the turn signal holes inthe fork ears...interesting..ive since restored it to its original spot, complete with original style gauges.

I don't have any closeups on this computer, but I'll put one up tonight. You can kind of get an idea from these two shots, though. My mount is an arch of aluminum sheet that is 3/4" wide and polished. It archs out from the two barclamps (where it mounts) and has the gauge centered and sitting about 3" out from the top tripple.

Don't mind HammerHead :-D:

Is that a frame slider attached to your bottom shock mount?

-Q!

Lee,

What did you do with that gruesome tangle of wires that normally run into the headlight bucket and up to the guage cluster?

Mark

Lee, that is one sweet piece of steel. Kudos to you, sirrah. It's helping me with my mental picture for my next project....

Got a question for you - with a instrument gauge that small, would it look decent with the gauge mounted on one side of the handlebars? Maybe in front of the brake resevoir... That way you'd have nothing at all disturbing the view over the top.

Thanks! I think your idea about mounting it to the bars would work. Being black and so small, it would really blend in well with a black handlebar and the black controls. That's a good idea!

There's still a tangle of wires heading into the headlight bucket. They're just kind of hidden in the photos. The Acewell doesn't use that many wires...just five or so. Its super simple to wire up, too.

Thanks for the info, I think I will be ordering one of these as my Christmas present to myself this year. Which model do you have?

Mark

I used these universal clocks on my cafe racer. Relocated the ignition onto the tank using a Honda Dax igniton barrel with a relay.

Quite neat I think..........

That looks REALLY good. Where'd you get those?

Monkeystew, pretty trick setup you got there. I especially like where you mounted the dummy lights. Very cool indeed
