A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just discovered I've been running all last season with 3 of the pilot fuel screws with broken tips, which were lodged in. The bike ran fine in my opinion.
It was easy to poke out the tips from the other side, luckily.

I'm curious to see what kind of power the bike has when I get the new pilot screws installed ;)

After a trip to my local parts pusher I find that he cannot order me the pilot fuel screws, as they are not on the original Suzuki catalogue. It's annoying the crap out of me why they didnt even draw them on the exploted parts fiche.

Searching GSR I found links to 2 repair sets that include what I need.

Before I place my order, I would like to ask you, my trusted GS family, if anyone knows other dealers who sell pilot fuel screw for Mikuni vm26ss for GS750EN.

The cost for these 4 sets will cost me 120 dollars exclusive fare. And I dont need all the other parts, as the carbs have been cleaned and fitted with new seals and rings not so long ago.

That's an interesting idea Adler.
I'm curious what the actual purpous of the screw is. I know its something to do with mixing fuel and air, but how does it work exactly? Shouldn't the angle after shaping the tip be the same as the original?

Take your old pilot screws to a repair shop and match them up to some used ones. Most repair shops have many old carbs sitting around (like mine) and would be glad to sell you some. Mikuni only used like 4 or 5 different pilot screw since 1970. Plus many the Chinese carburetors used the same Mikuni style pilot screws.

There are 3 rebuild kits I'm looking at; any comments on which is best?

And the Keyster referenced above.

Anyone have a preference over which is the desired rebuild kit?

Walle, if you find yourself buying the kit just to get those four parts, may buy the remaining parts from you?

1978 GS750E

I had a sticky overflowing carb (#2) so took the carbs off and other than a bit of rust dust in the bottom of the bowls, didn't see any lacquer, so I spayed them out and cleaned the float pin (was a little grabby) and inspected the float valve and o rings. They all looked pretty good. My question is, while I have them off, should I just rebuild them anyway or mount them back up and see what happens? The bike only has 11K on it.

I can send you 3, I pulled some carbs off a Yamaha 750 Triple if they'll work.

If those kits come with the new fuel screw then it would be worth it. Dont forget new o-rings from cycleorings.com
EDIT: +1 on Z1, they always have my vote:)

thanks for the input and help everyone. I found a used carburettor for sale in my neighbourhood. I paid roughly half the price for the 4 kits mentioned earlier. Needles are good, and the engine sounds much better now in low revs. - AND I have more spare parts. I'm happy. Still snow out there...cant wait to ride

EDIT: thanks for the kind offer Ranger, wont be needing them. Got to love this community
