    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Nov 1977 GS750 uk Wheel Spec?

I have recently purchased a GS 750 registered in Nov '77 which has alloy wheels, can anyone advise me if they would have been original? The only sites I can find giving the specs for '77 models all suggest that it should have spoked wheels, so I thought I would ask the experts!!

Could be wire wheels, one front disc

Or, cast wheels, 2 fronts discs - E model

Or, someone could have changed the wheels in the last 35 years

How about a picture?

The first GS 750 came out in late 76 with wire wheels.
In Europe they came with two disks.
I know because I owned one in 1977:cool:
Recently I managed to find a pair to go on my 1100 Kat:)
 
Its got twin discs and yes your right someone could have changed the wheels, and thats the reason for the asking for help.
I would like to get the bike back to as near original as possible but dont have any history on the bike!
I will post a pic soon, at the moment I have the carbs out and the bike is wrapped up to keep it from the damp.
Could you guys advise me when the "E" version first came out and if it had any other changes that could help me identify which version the bike is? in the log book it is just a GS750.
 
Hi Bill. The UK 1977 model year bikes had spoked wheels and were called GS750DB. B is the model year and the D denoted twin front discs. The first bike to have the alloy 'snowflake' wheels was the 1978 model year GS750EC. C is the model year and E denotes the 'sporty' version with alloy wheels.

Just to confuse things the Suzuki year wasn't the calendar year - it was autumn to autumn (October I think but I may be wrong). So you could have a 1977 registered GS750EC, perfectly legitimately.

Have a look at the frame number and compare it with this page:

And don't get too hung up on authenticity. Suzuki have always been the parts bin kings and as long as the bits are within a year they're probably the bits it left the factory with.
