Last Saturday, on my way home from the ritual weekend ride, I noticed the odometer wasn't working. Thinking that maybe it was in a bind, I punched the reset. Nope, nada, nothing. The good news is I'll always have a low mileage vintage bike. The bad news is I don't like "broke stuff".
So this morning I removed the fairing and pulled the gauge pod. This is pretty simple on the 1980-81 750/1100 E's.
Here's what I saw... a little nasty but mostly looks okay. No broken plastic like I suspected.

The main drive and spur will not stay engaged. So here's the question..." is the gear supposed to be undercut?"

It looks like the clock-works can be separated from the odometer/tripmeter frame. If so I could use a donor and keep my mileage at least close to actual.
Anyone have experience with this?
