A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Oil filter access w/ Jardine exhaust?

I'm looking at replacing my aging OEM exhaust with a Jardine 4-1 product number 14-4403-03, but I've heard to make sure a new exhaust will not block oil filter access. From the picture, the design looks like the header/collector is routed directly under the center of the motor covering the oil filter access. I've heard good things about the performance and sound of Jardine products, but I do not want to impede access to the oil filter area. Is anyone familiar with this exhaust? Will it require removal of the exhasut to change the oil filter? Thanks.

Yes. All 4into1 require the removal of the header to access the oil filter, except a 'sidewinder' type pipe, which restricts ground clearance turning right.

I run this pipe on my GS1000. Access to the oil filter cover is possible, but it's a tight fit for my hand. Yes, the filter can be changed with the header installed. The biggest problem is the mess you make. I think any header setup would have a challenge with spilling oil onto the pipes during an oil change.

I made a funnel of sorts out of an old milk container. It channels the oil between the center pipes and itno a drip pan. When I do an oil change I loosen the acorn nuts just a little. Enough to let the oil drip into the funnel. Then I leave it for a while. Later, after most of the oil has dripped out of the filter cavity, I finish the job. Still, I get a little oil on the pipes. But it cooks off quickly.

The Mac system is designed to let you get at the filter cover easily.

If you really like the Jardin and it makes it a PITA to get to the filter, isn't there kits that will let you move the filter somewhere else...with possible additional cooling?
