    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Oil leaking in the damndest of places

Gs 1100 shaftie 83. Oil leak under right of engine, oil pan is not the culprit.

That should get me started enough. I just got back from a nice windy ride here in the cheese country. I usually drive it 4 th gear between 55 and 65. Rpms 5,000 to 5,400. I passed this one car and they sped up on me so instead of shifting into 5th I decided to open her up and bump past him. I climbed her too 6,200 in 4th. No big deal, went another 20 miles and ready for gas, noticed the kick stand was dripping with oil. I gased her up and threw up on her center stand and the whole bottom was covered in oil except the pipe side. Paid the sexy attendant some cash for a bottle of 40w. ( I plan to go back up that way). checked the oil level, it was fine. Then babied her home. I stopped half way it was low added some in. Then drove it the rest of the way home. Threw her up on center stand, got a rag and wiped it down while inspecting it. I noticed that under the cover plate (shifter side), that the oil was coming out this one hole. and dripping down. I grabbed my clymer manual and there is a plug somewhere inside there.

Now could my assine pass cause that oil to eject out of there and blew a seal somewhere? I will check it again later on after it has cooled

Is that the drain for the little well on top of the transmission and under the timingchain tensioner?
 
I am guessing it is, I checked it tonight after sitting for about three hours and nothing seems to be continuing to leak. Could it be I pushed her too hard? Oil I think shot right out of there. I can't find anything in the manual that says there is an oil seal except the plug that holds the oil in under the case.
 
I will be at work today , but check this on when I get home. Should I just take off that cover plate and trouble shoot it from there? Is it possible to push oil out like you do on vehicle if you over rev them? I know that she really vibrated on the pass. Even the custom mirror vibrated loose.

Update check inside the starter cover and its bone dry. where else does that little hole lead too? Oh yah not a drip of fresh oil either on the floor or pan or anywhere. Odd aint it.

was reading about a plug for the gear oil, if that is the leak, what does that mean?
 
im bumping this. I know someone out there knows the answer to this.
 
There is a small o-ring gasket on the oil level hole bolt for the primary drive that dries out and will leak profusely at high rpm. You need to replace it, and the shift rod o-ring also leaks. Since I didn't want to pull a whole lot of stuff apart to fix the shift rod leak, I made a diverter so I didn't have to smell 90w gear lube baking on my left pipe...:-D
 
so it is gear oil, ok thought so after reading the clymer manual. I did notice it was about a half a cup low so I added new 90 wt in there. I will drive it around keep an eye on it. The shifter seal was bone dry. I think I over pushed it trying to pass that guy in fourth. I should of shifted it into 5th gear and flew past him. I was doing 80 in 4th. I learned my lesson. The thing is now now I can baby that seal and keep it from pushing it out again. One guy thought maybe its a saftey breach? So the pressure if it gets too high spurts out that drainage hole. What are you thoughts?

I think the culprit is blow by under load. I cleaned it up (wiped down any wet oil) , drained the gear oil and added new oil. I checked the air filter (its dirty). I did some reading on here and I can pretty much narrow it down to bad piston (rings) or too much pressure under load. I wont push it that hard anymore. I think I can get another five years out of it.
Ordering a new air filter today. Can the air filters be cleaned with gas?

Oh yah took it on the road went ten miles dry as a bone went 75 in 5th, and kept it under load at 5,000 rpms. no higher.,
