    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Oil Spill Cleanup

I just came up with this one while cleaning up a spill from knocking over an oil container. After uttering some choice language I instinctively grabbed a handfull of oildry and threw it onto the spill. I let it sit for a few minutes and swept it back up. The oildry captured most of the oil but still left a stain in the driveway. I then grabbed some gasoline, poured it onto the spill, then threw some more oildry onto it. After a couple of minutes I swept up the second batch of oildry. There is absolutely no sign of any spill ever ocurring. Granted this was brand new clean oil but I'm sure it would work very well with the dirty stuff too.
 
Another tip:

On old stains, scatter kitty litter on them, and scrub with a chunk of cinderblock.
Not sure if it leeches out the oil, or grinds in the litter, but the stain is greatly reduced, and even disappears a lot of times.
 
Old oil stains just soak liberally with mineral spirite (paint thinner0, kerosene or diesel fuel, then put oil dri or kitty litter on, let it soak then sweep it up. Most of it comes out.

I have been doing this for years and it always works for me. The trick is to get the oil up right away before it sets in.

I prefer generic clay based kitty litter to any of the name brand oil dry. You can buy it in bulk, I'ts cheaper, and it works just as well.
 
I've got a bag of cement that sits in the garden shed for small jobs. It is perfect for sucking oil out of a concrete floor. A handful left for a few days gets rid of everything.
 
The perfect thing to get old oilstains out is "Coca-Cola" it may require several applications,pour it on scrub hose off repeat,afterall we have all seen what it does to a tooth.
