DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok. Here goes my 1984 Katana.

As you get further along I'm getting more and more curious to see the end result (as I'm sure you are). This is going to be a cool and unique bike when you are done.

I hope so :) Two days ago a guy said this was a gay color. :) I told him that it must take one gay to know another :) That kind of shut him up :)
But i wanted to play a litttle with this black/gold color scheme. I saw once a car customeized similar to this. :)

I think the gold and black is a great combo, Siggi.
Looking forward to a clip of it going down the road when you are finished.

It does not have a gay vibe. You can't satisfy everyone, you have to build it for yourself. For me the red motor cases would have to go. Keep it all black. in fact the gold frame does not work for me. You might have something with the gold and black but the red just kills it for me.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Color is a highly subjective and personal choice. If you like it, then that's what matters. The quality of the work is impressive too.

The red is actually HOK Tangerine. Put on a little thick it might fail to produce coerrectly in the photos as the dark orange it is. And when the sunlight hits it it goes wild, just like the gold paint :) I did the frame in same color as the body to make the bike more "whole and fatter " so to speak. when you look at the original white body on gold frame, it looks to me like the body is out of place :) Just trying to sync things a little :)

It's your bike. GO for it. I'm enjoying your attention to detail. Very nice.

It's not my style, but there is a certain old-school hot rod appeal to it. I do like the gold body work though, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the finished product works together.

Few steps closer ..........

I need to make some spacers and find a proper fitting bearings in the front wheel . I want to use the original axle in the front , otherwise there are so many mods that need to be done and many spacers. I hate spacers :) Fender seem to sit perfectly with the 17 inch and there is enough room for both the larger rotors and calipers. Only now need to make a bracket that can hold the nissin calipers in the correct place.

bike is coming together nicely but seeing it now those colors look bad together, i would keep the gold and change the orangey color, but it looks great other than that

That is one SICK looking bike.......

very impressive.......

but you do have to take better pictures, half of them were blurry......my eyes hurt...LOL

what was your method of getting the engine back into the frame, and were you able to do it with out marring it all up....?

Well. It actually looks really cool in real llife. Pictures dont do justice :) Those orange things really change color from reddish orange to gold in different angles :) You wil just have to visit iceland and take a look :)

I will sonn make better pictures when closer to finish. I hope to finish it next weekend.
Method of installing engine was using thick towels all over engine and on lower rails of frame. Then i positioned a small wheeljack under the frame with a soft woodblock and a towel there too. removed all engine covers before i started. then with a help of a strong armed friend we carefully lifted the engine into frame in 2 steps. I carried it from enginestannd to the bike standing on the lift in correct height end he stood over the other side and we sort of made a four arm forklift to move the engine into place. then he held it while i pushed the rear lower throughbolt in place. with all the towels there was never direct contact. Then we raised it tilting it back until the front frame bolt bracket lined up and after this all was just putting the bolts in place :)

And yes, it went in without a single scratch :)
