    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

bike has been sitting for a few years, p.o claimed to have drained the carbs and tank....not quite all the way though.
anywho, bike is a 1229, v&h prepped head, megacycle 255 duration cams (sorry only spec i have), kerker four into two exhaust, accel ignition, coil, wires, etc. stock carbs with friggin big dynojet mains. peering through the intake tracts, its evident someone has been busy. new base, valve and head gaskets too.encouraging!
my question is... if i go with flatslides, 36 or 38mm?

Bill is (was) running a 1230 with the 1150 CV's His head has SS 28.5's on intake and light porting. Gas mileage was over 30 but about 15-20% less than me with 1166 and more aggressive head port. I also have the 36mm 1150 carbs but running 145's on mains. We both have 0.340" Webcams except he is 108/108 while I'm 105/107

So unless you want top end speed with cost as no object then go 38 RS, but 36mm RS are good for mid range but if you are on it alot the mileage will suffer.

I think I'm done with the jetting
Mikuni BS36SS carbs
47.5 pilot jet
Idle mixture screws out 3-3.5 turns
150 main jet 1&4
152.5 main jet 2&3
Dynojet Jet needle third notch from bottom
Pulls great bottom-top
Idles great with the 47.5 pilot jets
I tried this setup with the Jet Needle 3.5 notches from bottom but ran too hot for my liking. The three up gave me better color on the plugs and it ran cooler.

Also ask GS1150streetracer he has a 1230 in an 1100. Siggy says he is running 36mm RS

gas mileage is not a concern as this is more or less a play bike.
i can't find any jetting# on any of the mains in the cv's but man they are BIG!
so 36's or 38's should be ok?
the more i clean these cv's the more black paint is coming off. any easy way to remove all of it without completely tearing down the rack?
picked up a 4 into one complete vance and hines with cannister for 60 bucks at mid-ohio last weekend. will probably end up installing itin the future.
also how about sprocket gearing? what is a good combo to run with it oriented more for quarter mile than top speed?

A quick sugestion, Top End Oiler... I just replaced my cams due to marginal oil volume on the cams... they can be had by a member that makes them...

been running in and out of the 100 degree garage today cleaning them. but they are getting clean. do the float needle seats just pull out once you remove the little bracket held by a phillips head? they might still need a bit more love before they'll come out. could be the o-ring is swollen from solvent.

go with whats the best price used.
36 RS miks are 8 second carbs..fact.
38-40's will work and make more up top but the 36's would be more fun from a lower RPM.
there is a nice looking set of 38's local to me for 300.00 thats a more than fair price.
if your interested i can hook you up with the guy if he still has them.
i get 725.00 for brand new RS series 36-38-40's.
34's are a little cheaper new.

i just checked and the guy has deleted his ad.
300.00 was a good price in a bad economical area it seems.

Yea I would have expected closer to $400 for nice RS's
