A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

On my way to pickup another gs...

Went through the bike from front to rear. It had a burnt valve and when I went to reassemble it, the carbs were all crudded up from sitting. So I took them off, cleaned them up again and then the skunk came along, so there it sat until today.

"Four years later".

Nice job Dale. Me needs another bike...I'm jealous.

Herniating three discs didn't help matters. That took me off from working on it for about a year.

Sounded great, except that noise right at the beginning. Not exactly a backfire, mind you...just can't put my finger on it. :)

Nice job getting the ol' gal ready to go again. Great story.

Ed, I had to think about this for a bit before I responded.

If it were me looking for another bike, I'd look for an 'old' air head BMW.
I think they are just cool looking old bikes.

***edit*** I sent an email off to the gent I bought it from. I hope with it running again, it will bring back some fond memories to him.

It's all titled, plated and insured!

I'll be taking it out for a spin tomorrow. The first time it will be ridden in thirteen years. Gotta love it :D

It sounds fantastic!
Except for that strange noise when you first start it.
Is there a dog stuck in the airbox? :p

Eric

Perhaps throwing a steak outside of the garage door before start-up will help with these Suzuki engine problems. ;)
They can be finicky at times.

No, He wanted me to throw His tennis ball. :)

You need to wear him out with one of these before you make your videos :D

I would like to hear it run..seeing the last time i saw it was with the cam cover off in your driveway. What years was that again?...LOL

The shaked down ride

The shaked down ride

Runs just fine for not having balanced the carbs yet. No hesitation, solid idle, no funny noises, no clutch basket rattle, shifts perfectly. I'll need to drop the height of the rear shocks and move the air pressure up a couple of pounds in the front forks until I can get a set of progressives for it. And, having never ridden behind a big old hunk of abs out front, I can honestly say she's no corner carver the way she is, but at least she's road worthy until I can get after the suspension.

It's the end of the chapter for this one... :D :D :D

Have you tried to pre-load the front springs a bit also?

Eric
Eric, not yet. The forks have leak proof seals in them and I don't think they are holding air pressure in the forks. I might have to ditch them and use the factory seals with a bit of preload on the springs.

I'll pick up some pvc and set the sag in a couple of days or so.
