If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello everyone,
I have a 1981 GS550T which I have put pods on and an aftermarket exhaust. The engine has new rings new gaskets electrical has been gone through. Carbs are synced as well as I can without a cylinder getting hot.
My question is why is my number 3 cylinder not getting hot? I know its hitting because the bike idles fine but when I pull the plug on that cylinder with the bike running it dies immediately. Could it be valves I have adjusted them did I do it wrong? Iam out of ideas help would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the Top Ten newbie mistakes list and see if you can check any of those off

What year bike is it? does it have VM or CV carbs? if it has VM,s check that your fuel valve is work properly and not leaking fuel down the vacuum line. , Check float levels in carbs

The bike has CV carbs
Yes 3rd cylinder as from the left as I sit on the bike
Checked the top ten newbies list
and I have had the carbs taken apart about 20 times they have been dipped 3 times as well.

why would the bike be firing but the cylinders exhaust not warming up could it be an exhaust valve that is stuck closed?

It's either carbs or ignition and I'd bet it's carbs, probably a blocked pilot jet.

Does it get hot when you're running with the choke on? But not without it? That would indicate pilot jet.

Will fuel come out of the float bowl on number 3?

Swap the plug wires on cylinders 2 and 3. Does the cold cylinder move?
