    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

order of clutch plate reinstallation....HELP!

I have a question on reinstalling the clutch plates.

I don't have the order correctly noted for the reinstallation of the clutch and drive plates.

2 of the clutch plates are one sided, I assume one is first and one is last.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct or does someone have the order?

I just heard that it's a 1983 GS850G. :D

6 goes in with the closed side at the back

8 is the wave washer, the smaller diameter side goes to the back too, inside #6.

Then comes the first steel plate (#13) which is held in place with the wire (#7)

From there on you just put fiber and steel plates alternatively, they do have slightly different sides if you look closely, put them all in the same way to be sure.

Be sure to use a new lock plate behind the centre nut!

Do the experts agree with all this?
 
Are these the new clutch plates (fiber) that have a coating on one side?
 
Hello to all...thanks for your help. The GS850 has a new clutch that grips strongly in all gears!!!!

Since the project is now over I have come to a few conclusions. The "one sided" plates are just really badly burnt out plates.

Never overtight the clutch spring screws. I have one break that i had to drill out and extract.

If anyone is experiencing trouble with their clutch or clutch adjustment....I have just gone through the whole thing....drop me an email.
