A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I was just looking at the 1979 GS850 schematic and seen a block titled "Output Terminal" and don't quite understand its purpose. It appears to have a red wire going to it from the starter relay, and maybe a switch to ground? Does it have a specific task? Gene

That looks like the one but it still doesn't tell me what the purpose of it is! Gene

The purpose of that terminal is so you can add FARKLES. :D

You don't know what a FARKLE is? :-k

Fancy
Accessory,
Really
Kool,
Likely
Expensive.

Note that it is NOT switched, but you can add a charger for your cell phone, a GPS, just about anything you want that won't overtax the charging system.

Gene,

Perhaps you are refering to the terminal on the bottom of the fuse block. As stated above by others, that will be unswitched by the ignition key switch so is on all the time.

Thanks all, I think I understand its function now. I was comparing the differences between the 1979 and the 1980 and because I have a 1980 and it doesn't have one, I couldn't visually quite understand the function of it. Gene

Are you sure? If you have five fuses in your panel, you still have the AUX fuse.
The five fuses are:
1. Lights, including headlight, tail light and instrument panel
2. Signals, including turn signals, horn and brakes
3. Ignition, including coils, ignitor and starter activation circuit.
4. Main
5. AUX terminal

Steve, I originally had the impression it was a seperate block. In the schematic it is shown as an entity of its own. I understand now. Thanks Gene

Up through the '79 models, it was in a separate block.

Here is a picture from a '79 850:

For comparison, here is one from an '82 850L:

For further comparison, here is the main fuse panel (yeah, there's more) from a 2000 Wing:

There are about a dozen relays and a few more fuses behind that cover on the right. :o
