A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

and it still runs! as im downshifting on the highway i didnt step hard enough so it didnt engage into any gear, and what do you know i revved it SO HARD i really thought it was going to blow up , i heard a weird fluttering noise while it was @ its peak which sounded very weird and i heard flames comming out of the exhaust. it sounded like it went to 14k rpms no joke- it sounded like a high pitched shriek,.. ive mis shifted like this before but never this bad with extra fluttering noises- i mean it was really out of hand, it truly scared the crap out of me and i really cant believe nothing happened to the bike-or so i hope.. i've heard of bent valves but my bike runs mint... unbelievable.

Check your oil man, even when my bike ran dry it rode for about 100 miles after adding fresh oil before the bearing went. Better hope you don't have metal shavings that come out.

It's probably fine, it's a GS after all. If it didn't grenade on the spot it probably won't.

Thats what you all said about my bike

lol ranger we need to start raising a fund for you, immediately we need you on a GS. i feel your pain brother, but hey atleast your in san diego, im here in long island and its 18 degrees out right now

I'm in a state with beautiful weather unable to ride in it. That makes it worse.

i really understand how that feels (being without a bike and such) when my bike was down (several time) i would really feel withdrawl and i would seriously be ****ed at EVERYONE for that day, i would bark answers at everyone and they'd be like "wtf is his problem" in their heads... hey everything happens for a reason right! ill be hunting the SD craigslist for ya, you need a 750, 1000, or 1100!

No, it happend because I couldn't catch a break with anything and that ****er Murphy thought it would be funny to **** with me and see if I could walk away alive then be stuck in the HOV lane on the freeway and have to deal with that plus everything else. So **** YOU Murphy cuz I did it. Bitch.

I have a new engine coming some time soon. I only get mad when I think about that whole month.

haha i know i know, maybe now, but my 750 was my main thing and i got really attached with her through the ups and downs i know it all! now i need an 1100.. but nothing sounds like a straight piped 2 valve bike :)

A good "Italian tune-up" every once in a while will do a lot of engines some good. :D

.

hahhaha thats funny as hell (not that hell is funny... where did that saying even come from?) anyways shortly after i went into the beach parking lot and inspected... the bike sorta acted like it had seafoam in it.. some (not insane amounts) white smoke came out after i would throw a rev.. is this a good thing? everything sounded spot on and ran right on the money.. i may do an oil change soon though as i had to top mine off quite a bit this cycle

You are lucky. I did that 20 years ago on a Gpz550. Right through the redline and pinned the needle for less then a second. I made another 5kms down the road and it stopped working. I bent almost every valve.

And to think I was trying to wheelie pass a car with some girls in it.

14k? and extra noises... ouch.. :-&

I would at least check the compression, and do a leakdown to make sure some of the valves are not bent.
