    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

yeah it was their cleaner in a spray can...never got the dip in the eye, that could be pretty disasterous id say...that stuff is like acid on the skin..

Yeah that's what I was referencing - the spray stuff. Seems like Barryman's spray carb cleaner is nastier than the rest. That's good for cleaning carbs but bad for eyeballs. ;-)

Most of the spray carb cleaners use methylene chloride, which works really well, but is nasty stuff to deal with. I've had my share of solvents in the eyes due to working in labs for 30 years. Chlorinated solvents are the worst, with toluene and xylene close behind. I'm very good about using safety glasses as a result of lessons learned, but sometimes they slide down while you're bending over parts, sweating like crazy.

When I was about 12 I guess, I was puttin on my jacket after art class. I happened to have a sharp #2 pencil in the same hand I was using to zip up my jacket. Yep, right into the corner of the eye. Wow that hurt, but boy is the visual of that funny!

When I was a kid, one of several times my mother got a call from school that started with "Paul is OK, but...." was when I tried to help the girl who sat behind me in Biology class open the clam she had to dissect. Mine opened easily, but her's popped open suddenly and I splashed formaldehyde in my eye...

I used to teach anatomy labs where fetal pigs were dissected. They were often pressurized with the preservative. The first incision would sometimes unleash a geyser that could shoot 3 or 4 feet high for a second or so. Preservative plus blood. An ugly, stinky mess.
