A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Paint update on my S

Thanks again for all the kind words. Yes, this is a true S model. I just added the Honda front fender and the CB1100F rear shocks. The original front fender, seat, exhaust, and shocks have been stashed away with all the other stock parts including the bars and turn signals. I wanted to make sure that when I did this project, that it could be returned to totally stock someday if I ever wanted to.

NVR2OLD, it was rattle can was it? Do they sell that paint in quarts so you can use a gun?

I used spray cans to paint the engine, the forks and the wheels. Not sure you can get it in quarts. I used the spray cans for the engine because it was heat resistant. The other parts could easily be done with urethane or acrylic enamel, sure.

-Thank you for your responce and time. I haven't heard of the engine paint being sold in anything other than rattle cans. Thansk!

Your bike is awesome!
Question: How were you able to run the oil lines and also keep your temp gauge?

Unfortunately, the gauge went inactive to have the oil cooler. The Lockhart adapter for the lines (where the stock mounting position behind the cylinders is) doesn't have the sensor for the gauge. I can live with it, though.

A friend of mine just bought that GS1000S on eBay, good for him. Another Wes Cooley saved, and another one I get to paint..oh boy!. Also, thanks for the compliment suzu650, I appreciate it.

Reserve not met on the auction. Did your friend strike a deal outside of ebay? At any rate, if he want to sell the exhaust system please let me know.:)

Don't know the details of the sale, but I'll certainly pass along to him that you'd be interested in the pipes. I'm thinking he might want to put a header on it.

I have a nice V&H to offer up in trade if he's interested. Thanks for passing along my interest.:)

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it very much. I have to admit though, the small booth in this series of pics belongs to my friend Nunzio (Jim) He's the guy who prepared the stencils and helped me spray the graphics on my tank. I have to give credit where credit is due, he's a very talented individual also. BTW, that's a very nice GS you have there.

Wow! Just got the latest Moto Retro in the mail yesterday. Your bike is really neat. Excellent work!

Now, I need to get mine refinished. Paint is beginning to crackle around the filler hole, and there are small blemishes here and there.

There is a Nunzio on the CB1100F.com site that does some beautiful paint work on his Hondas. Same guy?

I'm sure it is. He's got absolutely the most beautiful 1979 Honda CB750F I've ever seen. CBR front end, Interceptor wheels, Ohlins shocks, pipe, CR smooth bores, velocity stacks, fantastic paint. Amazing bike. He also paints helmets for F1 drivers fer gosh sakes..so yeah, he's good.

Thanks, I'm stoked the bike is in the new issue. It'll be in a future issue, too, when the editor's "replica" of mine is done. I'm also doing a GPz550 Kawasaki for Dexter Ford. That should be in the next issue.

BTW, I know someone who could fix your paint..:D

Yup, I'm the same guy!

Gorgeous work! Great attention to detail... Very nice. I'm tossing some paint ideas around for the 750 right now.
