Bullsh1t, as long as the helmet has not had an impact, it is fine, fiberglass does not deteriorate with age.
Absolutely correct, and I agree with you....
BUT
the inside of the helmet is what matters, the foam and lining is what has gone to crap more than likely, it's probably crumbling and falling apart and has no safety value left in it.....
he might as well go and get a construction helmet and put it on and ride around with that....
I had a helmet, sat in the closet, in it's bag, and was not used for many years, and it was falling apart on the inside as stated above, it was promptly thrown out and replaced with a new one....
sorry but my head is worth more to me than a few hundred bucks, I would rather not ride, than have something on my head that does not offer me the maximum protection I can get.
