If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know Old yeller looks OK in pics but you have done a better job than I did first time out.

There was unfortunately some dust and crap that seemed to blow in and stick to it today as well as the odd cat hair, but I'm doing as recommended and just letting them stay there as they can be sanded or buffed out later...

This is how it looked outside the garage pretty much for the the rest of today, so I'm glad I didn't go by the weather forecast and wait for it to improve:

So I took the precaution of leaving the flood lights on for another hour or so while I started cleaning up the garage to try to keep the warmth up in the booth:

And then I chucked another drop sheet over the booth when I started blowing dust around:

I ducked down tonight to do some other things, and they still seem to be looking pretty good:

I think the repairs turned out ok, there's still some obvious hard edges on the one on the rear of the tank but it's definitely much improved.

The finish seems to be pretty good, but I really need to get them out into some proper sunlight to truly see how good/bad there are.

Hopefully we actually get some sun this week at a time I can get them out there... just 15 minutes after/before work one day is all I need (yeah back to work tomorrow, holiday is over...)...

Thanks heaps again guys, I really can't express how much I appreciate the advice and help that's been given during this, and I would've been completely lost without it!

Thanks Greg, although I haven't seen it out in the sun yet, and it still needs a sand, buff, and polish so plenty of opportunity for me to stuff it yet

To be honest the pic's so far don't really show a true reflection, and they are definitely masking some of the sanding masks on the front and rear guard that are still there, but the tank and tail piece seem to be coming out pretty much as they are...

Pete, and I thought it ****ed down here!,glad to be of some help and I'm sure the others who contributed feel the same-but always remember it was YOU working the gun, just don't polish it so much when the bike is finished that you have to start over ha ha ha.Johnny

Haha mate it was one of those weeks where it was just unpredictable weather and the weather bureau have no idea what they're talking about...

You, Dale, Larry, and everyone else who chipped in were all a huge help.

I do feel some pride though that I did manage to work the gun and get that result, so I'm pretty stoked with that :D

And don't worry, right now I think I'm too scared to polish it! Hahahahaha

I've really gotta get some sunshine pic's done coz I have no idea how good or bad it really is yet...

By the way Greg, I neglected to mention that you had a *lot* more work to do on yours than I did. I think I would've gone stir crazy if I had to do fairings...

*Finally*!!! I got home and there was some patchy sun so even though it was getting towards sunset I got them all out for some natural light photos anyway, and I think it now shows a much more accurate representation of how they really look.

Definitely will need some work as there's definitely orange peel, but not to the extent that I thought there was. You can also clearly see all the dust and crap that floated in and stuck to the clear coat.

I can definitely see how nice and shiny they will become though!

That front guard turned out about 100% better than I expected after all that too...

Tell me about it:pVERY happy the Skunk nor the CB have them.On the other side the fairing is cool looking.

Haha I'm not surprised. Luckily for me I prefer my bikes nekkid ;)

That's looking flash, Pete..

I'm hanging out to see it together now..

Cheers Leigh! Wondered when you were gonna chip in :p

Yes I'm getting desperate myself to see it all together... so close I can almost touch it...

Pete, we're dying to see the final product after it's cut and buffed!

can you speed it up a bit 'Eh? :)

Hahaha now now Dale, I'm being patient remember? :p

But seriously, I'm hoping next Saturday will work for that as I'm not sure doing it at night is a good idea due to the lack of good light. I'd really rather do that in natural light I think.

I also need to get some buffing and polishing stuff. Checked out the house mate's stuff he has and it's really old and falling apart so no go.

The place I got my paint from also sells wet/dry paper up to 2500 grit, so my house mate will pick some up next week for me seeing as he can walk there.

HEAR HEAR :clap::clap::clap:

Patience grasshopper ... it'll happen Stan, don't you worry about that ;)

Pete, I know you are being patient. bless you for that...

how about a bit of encouragement to get you started? http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/4454232-post30.html (those are sure are some skilz He has!)

Oooooh wow  Can I hear you say mirror? :D

That is sure somes serious polishing!

I'm not sure how I'm doing it yet... hand or drill or fork out for a little dedicated hand polisher or something... I need to have a look around.

Ultimately I'd like something I can put another pad on for Mother's mag and alloy polish so I can keep my crank case covers and wheels polished up too...

at least that's what He said...

I missed that sentence! I was distracted by the photo... wow!

I'm gonna go check that 3M stuff Larry was talking about at some point soon. I suspect I'll have to end up at a certain large hardware store that I find very annoying to shop in...

Nice work Pete, I'm looking forward to seeing the bike put back together with the "new" bodywork.
